Attack Pattern Expertise

I picked this up for my escort thinking it would be a great addition to survivability, afterall, who doesn't want an extra 5k HP? But having picked it up I think I've died more as a direct result because of the implementation, rather than adding 5k to my health, it in effect replaces my health with that 5k so I can't heal my hull or shields which in turn means that when those hit points expire I'm back to my previous state in which I needed to heal and end up dead.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Also, for the devs, if it is currently implemented as intended, would it be possible to remove these specialisation perks from my character please?

That's a rather different experience from what I've had. You can heal with attack pattern expertise up - simply mousing over your ship, having your current target shooting at you, or setting focus on yourself will show you your actual hp/shields. You can't actually heal your overshield, though.

And, if you really don't like it, you can just swap to commando secondary active, since it's in pilot.

When activating Attack Patterns: 6,630 Temporary Hit Points for 15 sec...

So a couple or a bunch of questions:

Do the Temporary Hit Points (Hull) share the damage resistance of the actual hull?

It also appears to provide 6,630 Temporary Shield Hit Points, you notice the "whitening" of the Shield area as well. If you remove your shields and hit an Attack Pattern, you'll see:

    Fore Shields: 6,630/6,630
    Rear Shields: n/a
    Right Shields: n/a
    Left Shields: n/a

So are the Shield Hit Points a bug? Is it only supposed to provide the Hull Hit Points? If it is not a bug, is it providing 6,630 total Shield Hit Points so that each facing would actually only have 1657.5 Shield Capacity? Is it a display bug, would each facing have the 6,630? Is it completely a display bug and there is not actually any Shield Temporary Capacity? If it's not a bug and those are actually there, do they have the normal shield damage reduction of the actual shields?

The main issue with attack pattern expertise is that if you did not see your shield and hull strength prior to it's activation, you don't necessarily know if you need to heal up or not. You can heal up while it's active. As it is used up, if you have any hull of shield left, you might be able to see some indication in the tray graphic of what your actual hull and shield levels are before the expertise thing is used up.
The trait is almost identical to the quantum absorption trait on the romulan side. You may have never used it or forgot about it on your rommie toons, but it's there. Silly me, got a scimitar for an engineer spec'd with 3 points in threat generation and a couple of +th science consoles, and it's like having a 3rd miracle worker activation.

I think you are misunderstanding the temporal Hitpoints mechanic, OP.

Being using it and it works as advertise and it does add to your shield. Like someone said earlier, its like quantum absortion in effect. As for resistance and such, I have no idea if it share resist with "real" hull and shield.
