especially on the romulan version.
its utterly stupid.
make the torpedos self destruct after X flight time or something. anyway to make them act like torpedos instead of mines that rarely reach their target, and with the increasing amount of aoe, are becoming so stupidly out of place they might as well be an imported element from a completly different game put here as a show case.
It isn't just the rommie torps. The mechanic for ALL torps speed is broken. Enemies can simply out run torps until they explode regardless if they are HYT or Torp Spread. Frankly I am so disgusted with the wholesale changes they have implemented example beam weapons that crit 40% of the time doing between 40-84K damage while my heaviest torp does maybe 6k damage. While we are at it.... can someone explain how a plasma energy torpedo does kinetic damage? I am befuzzeled by the science behind how energy takes solid form and detonates after leaving the starship as a energy bolt. Didn't ANY of the Devs bother to look at the original Star Trek Romulan torpedoes?

I think they did:
Romulan "Mega" Torpedo, the Red Beach ball of Death. Mine (with Consoles) detonate with 50K Damage (non-crit) with Radiation damage and reduction of resistance for x secs.
Only Available on the T'Varo. Gaud I wish I could used the Intel "transport to bridge" with this one .

the fun thing is it scales to over 170k with crits and proper build, applied to 2.5 km radius.
plasma torpedoes are hard to use, but hilarious in combat when used well.. I have them on like six toons now- it's by far my favorite torpedo
tricks:
fly into the enemy, then fire, leaving a trail of death as you pass
on the tvarto, do circles under your target
grav well mobs, then use plasma torps with aoe like DPT, Omega, or the new RD one
as each plasma counts as a separate type, you can load all four and fire without tripping the timer
lay plasma like mines, to where enemy mobs will spawn
- and for folks who say they don't work, I win in karat a lot more often than I lose
To be honest, if torps just used the ship that fired them as initial velocity it'd go a long way... right now if you're flying at full speed, your plasma torps drop off behind you. Terrible mechanic.
