Hello!!

Im planning the ship to buy in lvl 50, as an engineer toon im with this options:

Fleet D'Deridex
Fleet Ha'apax
Hakoona

I wont play PVP, only PVE.
I find the D'Deridex more appealing than the others (big TNG fan).

What do you think?

The Fleet D'Dederidex has a nice BOFF layout. I've got the Haakona myself on one of my Roluman Captains. The Seperation abilities is nice. You get an Escort or Science type module to fly. And it's has a Lt Command Universal Station. So you can be pretty strong in anything you want.

I have a Rommie ENG and I purchased the Fleet Mogai for him and then Upgraded it. So far I have no reason to regret this choice.

IMO Ha'apax and Haakona are realy ugly. Big-D FTW with Fire at will and dual beam banks

    Depends on what you like.
I don't know about the other two, but the D'Deridex will require one of two things (both would be great):

1-Flying skills (if you use beams it's less of an issue)

2-Turn rate boosting (same as above)

I used to run an engineer in the D'Deridex and loved it. Then I got a scimitar....if you don't mind big and slow moving ships, save your dil/ money and get the scimitar. In an engineer's hands, she can put out decent damage and take it too. At T-5U, it's still one of the top ships in the game for PvE DPS. Matter of fact, most of the top DPS run videos lately show a scimitar/ recluse team. So, you don't have to take my word for it, consider what the "wizards" use to get the high DPS runs.

You mean save his money for a faster moving ship like the Scimitar.

The jump from 5 to 7 feels like it's got afterburners. Cloak and go up to 9 for added fun!

    Get a Scimitar. /thread
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

The DD is a really fun ship, and it makes a great beam boat as well. If you decide to go T6, the Aelahl is also very excellent in a similar role.

Engineers fit well anywhere. The question is how you know to make the most of the build utilizing whatever captain class on a desired ship. You can make any class shine on any ship type. Pick the one who's stats suit your style.

    Otherwise, T1 T'Liss.

I recommend the fleet deridex. It's the best looking Romulan ship by far and when set up right with grav well 1, it provides some decent crowd control.

Engineers can basically go for any / all end-game Romulan cruisers.

The Haakona is a lot of fun. Way better than the Feds' version of separation, where you just have a ton of weaker ships flying around. Having the Ha'nom protect your Ha'feh when separated is fairly effective, and it's a slow-moving power tank when unified.

Not for anyone that likes to... well, go anywhere, but it's an effective damage dealer when parked.

    D'deridex. Has to be really.

Just bear in mind it turns like a small moon. Still, could be worse, could be a Ha'apax/Haakona, they turn like a large moon...

Either way, beam arrays or turrets if you actually want to hit stuff.

haapax and haakona are the same thing. It is a poorish ship, IMHO. Its no better at tanking than the DD, and probably worse at everything else. The split into an escort would be nice, except it has the console layout of a cruiser so it isn't really much of an escort... and you can't really seat sensible weaponry on it that works on both assembled and split modes. It is simply not awesome --- and I flew it for a long time since it was my first purchase & I had a crazy idea that it would suit all 3 classes for my rom eng/tac/sci toons.

The DD is a very good ship, but there are better. Save your EC and buy a benthan at t6 and you would be far, far ahead of the game, or if you want a romulan ship, buy a t6 rom ship instead, rather than the old stuff. Time you bought a DD and upgraded it to t5U, you could have had a good t6 ship!
