Question About Upgrading Es. Carrier To Fleet-T5U

Hi

I was thinking about upgrading my Escort Carrier to T5U for the bonus' and the new leveling buff thingys (not the technical term for them) and while I was reading about it, I found someone mentioning how the T5U would be even better if it was upgraded to a fleet carrier (using a fleet module) first.

This is all totally new to me as I'm not in a fleet so I need advice about it all, technically :o

The quote was from Reddit, someone asked is it better to fleet it, then upgrade it...
You would get better hull and shield modifiers and an extra sci console if you do, but the T5-U upgrade is account-wide per ship, so if you fly the non-fleet Armitage on lots of characters and don't plan to upgrade them all to fleet, you could save a bit of zen only upgrading the basic version.

I only plan on using this one character (though I will replay all the missions when a friend starts a new character, and I'm invited to their missions). So this seems the best for me, especially with the sale on now and I think the extra Science station would be really useful, also I'm not sure I could upgrade it to fleet once it's been made a T5U.

So to my questions...

1. After joining a fleet what else would I need to do to be able to upgrade my Carrier to a fleet Carrier? Missions, gain a certain rank within the fleet, anything like that or can I do it as soon as I'm a member?

2. It says it'll cost 20,000 fleet credits and 1 fleet module. I have 250 marks which (if the wiki is correct and I've read it right) means I can convert them into 12,500 fleet credits, so then all I need to do is exchange 7,500 Dil to get 7,500 FC to get my 20,000 fleet credits. Is this correct?

3. Do I actually buy a new fleet Escort Carrier, or will something pop up to upgrade my existing Carrier?

4. Can I buy the fleet Module before I join a fleet? (and just keep hold of it)

5. Once I have my Fleet Carrier, is it as simple as adding the T5u upgrade to it?

6. Do you think it is worth upgrading twice like this? Do I lose anything? (I've searched the wiki but can't find the stats for an E. Carrier T5U, only the fleet version)

:)

    Hi and welcome,

I am not the best player here but I try to explain as good as I can:

    1. It depends on your Rank in the Fleet. Most Fleets unlock their stores when you have proofed yourself a constant donator in their Fleet Projects. I, for example, had to donate until I had about 50,000 Fleet Credits earned, and then all stores were unlocked for me.

    2. Yes, you donate Fleet Marks and Dilithium to Fleet Projects, and those will be converted into Fleet Credits.

    3. As soon as you have your money, you go to the Ship Vendor (on ESD is now easiest to explain), and buy the Fleet Version of your ship. Mean, you have the regular and the Fleet Ship in your Shipyard then.

    4. You buy Fleet Ship Modules (for Fleet Ships) and Ship Upgrade Tokens (for T5-U Upgrade) in the Zen Store.

    5. Once you have your Fleet Ship, go to the Ship Selector right next to the Ship Vendor on ESD, you select your Fleet Ship and then you will see a button where you can upgrade your Fleet T5 ship to a Fleet T5-U ship.

    6. I cant really answer this question. I have bought all T6 ships and I also upgrade some T5 ships because... well, I like them. You can do all the content before the Delta Rising missions easily, and when you are an experienced player who knows his stuff, you will also be able to compete against the Delta Rising content.

But there are other people out there who can explain that much better.

Excellent job responding to the questions :3

If you had the two choices only: Fleet or T5U, I would certainly go with T5U, as the extra tac console is more useful than the extra science console on the fleet version.

If you're considering getting a fleet version and then upgrading it to T5U, then yes, it is worth it. The fleet version has an increase in hull and shields by 10%, and the extra science slot. And this is especially true since you have already said you intend to play only the one character.

Both ships should progress at a similar pace while upgrading through the 4 tiers of the T5U (I suspect that the fully upgraded T5U Fleet version at level 60 will still have exactly 10% more shields and hull than a regular T5U at 60)

Thanks for taking the time to reply :)

Do you have any idea how long this would take? (That's why I asked "Can I buy the fleet Module before I join a fleet? (and just keep hold of it)" so if it does take days or whatever, I can at least buy the fleet mod while the sale is on and then use it when I'm able to :) )

I'm lvl 54, so I have some stuff around that I could 'trade' (R&D stuff, though the wiki didn't mentioned it).

Could I just donate 50k Dil to have the ability to instantly be able to buy the ship?

    Thanks for the info.

With what you've said here, it sounds like it's either-or. I assumed that I would get the science with the fleet and then an extra Tac with the T5U, so in the end I'd have +1 science and +1 Tac lol :o

Also I think I got confused somewhere and thought it came with an extra station too :o

Yes, you can buy Fleet Modules all the time from the Zen Store. The Zen Store is not connected to the Fleet. It is your own store to buy ships, costumes, boosts, etc.

It always depends on the Fleet players and the Fleet leaders how fast projects are slotted and unlocked, or that you get higher Vendor access. It is different from Fleet to Fleet.

You can also buy Fleet Modules from the Exchange. Fleet Ship Modules. They cost about 8 Million Energy Credits each.

The Wiki is written by people like you and me. Not by the Devs. But the players are constantly updating the pages, but there has been a lot of stuff going on and changes to the game so they have a hard time. You now basically donate the hard R&D stuff to the projects, and not specific items like before.

You have white Duty Officers? Every white Doff gives 300 Fleet Credits.

A regular Fleet Version T5 usually gives another console as what your ship represents.
Example: You have a T5 Cruiser, so the Fleet T5 gets either an additional Tactical or a Science Slot.

The T5-U Version usually (not always) gives an extra slot for your ship type.
Example: You have a Fleet T5 Cruiser, so the Fleet T5-U Cruiser gets an Engineering slot.

I know it is much to lear, but do it step by step.

hehe :) There's so much to the game that I have no choice but to do it step by step :)

I really know very little about fleets (as you can probably tell, lol) so your info is appreciated.

I do have white DOFF's so I'll be using them (and what ever else I can use) to 'advance' in the fleet. I'd really like the ship as soon as possible, because of the new leveling. If I was only using the T5U upgrade I'd be able to do that straight away, but since I found out about the fleet-to-T5U course the new leveling (mastery?) will have to take a back seat until I've sorted out the fleet stuff, that is why I'm looking for the fastest way through :)

1 last thing, after fleet and T5U upgrade, will I gain an extra station?

You should post in the Fleet Section hier down under to find a New Player Friendly Fleet, those people will help you out.

By station, do you mean Bridge Officer stations or Console slots?

Bridge Officer stations never change when you upgrade to regular/Fleet T5-U.
But the Fleet T5 ships themselves have often one Bridge officer station changed compared to the regular T5.
