So, I noticed crytpic is throwing sales at the players again, I haven't logged in much in the last month.

Have they fixed any bugs yet? Addressed empty queues or game balance? Or are they just throwing as much shinies around to distract people?

I think i'll just log in to setup doffs and go back playing Elite Dangerous, getting tired of this broken game.

    *equips flame proof suit*

I must admit Elite Dangerous looks like a good game, I used to spend hours playing frontier elite 2 on the amiga and was very tempted.
£40 seems very reasonable for a one off payment and free online access huum almost too good to be true in fact.
that was until I found out that when they bring out the next update they will charge you again to download it.
what happens at this point is anyones guess, how much will they charge for the update? , will you still be able to play if you don't buy the update? , how often will they bring out these updates and charge you for them? , will the update material be in the main play area or way out in the galaxy where nobody goes anyway but you will still have to pay to download it if you want to keep playing.

things could get very costly. no flaming intended.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Yes, this is true about the communist minorities who frequents the forums more than in game.

All that those whined about the PvE are literally the STO version of Communists. Elite Queues are literally the equivalent of Elite Raids. And you cant do these Elite Raids in other games with the wrong group, the wrong gear and the wrong level.

What all the whiners have been complaining about especially the OP is same access as those who worked to get to that level of game play. However, these whiners dont want to build the right way, dont want to find the right group, dont want to grind the same as the successful players, dont want to buy zen but wants the same rewards as these successful players.

It is literally the same thing as Communism in real life. Wanting to have mansions, $50B of Bill gates but dont want to work for it. You get the same reward/salary but slack around while others work. STO Communism at its finest.

OMG! Your post was just so epic!

this is the fact its just a game now all games must end with some pvp so players can prove skill now thare is not one game running that not going down hill because free to play and the options added with crafting and upgrading its now limitless spending giving ever more advantage this is what game pvpers call pay more to win not just pay to win this causes an issue a lot like cheat unlocking its just dune with credit cards this way whats realy going on is people want to end the wallot worrior race TRIBBLE put in all games because above reasons in compairing it to cheating and cheat codes and the fact those that want to test thare pvp skill simply cant

you are wrong wallot worriors are not real worriors because to have the gear needed at this time your spending alote simple reason is real pvpers don't want to play games full of cheaters and adding cheats and making the unlock for them a credit card number is why all these games are currently going down hill and I say good bye lame games fixed to pay the most to win not just pay to win I miss having a chance to get the best of the best players pvping at enytime that was before the crafting update my friends I made that before the crafting update now cant even pvp and have quite because the thares an advantage to spending more that cant be bested at this time

so a spending more feature means a good pvper is no longer good because he does not fight with his credit card that's lame eny game like that that takes the pride away for not spending the most gets what it deserves die pay to win and die in hell now to pay more to win

Look at Legacy of Romulus: After the release spike in May, a steady loss for four months.

LOR must have been terrible for STO, too.

Congrats you just made fun of your own argument ... :P

btw : It stopped after 4 months ...

PS : Funny how the whole "Steam Chart says squat" - Response changes ... back in Oct it was "but we have still XX% Increase on average, over the last 30 days" ... Nov, was "ok XX% Decrease, but it's still better than January 2011" ... Dec, "But look at LoR, they also lost some players, but don't look too close" ... can't wait for January, when the curve probably hits an all time low ...

    Oh the drama.

I wasn't playing the game for about 2 years. In those years, the game did continue without me, for some bizarre reason. I mean, it even got a frigging expansion and there were winter events and summer events and what not.

It's okay to stop playing. The game is likely still be there if you decide to come back, and if it isn't, well, you got along without it, and if you don' come back, it doesn't matter what happens with it.

your assuming things are as normal and just keep chugging along? at some point the coal runs out or the railway track is not completed and at some point it crashes or runs out of puff. obviously nothing lasts, its when someone has a terrible idea that they think is perfect for the game that things hit the fan and get very messy on the other end... you want an example, SOE's SWG NGE and you tell me that its 100% certain that cryptic wont fall into that same pit they may end up digging themselves into.

since you cant answer that, your drama will have to wait :P.

Feel free to go f#ck off to whatever other game, hold a wankathon, get hit by a bus, whatever you feel like doing that isn't Star Trek Online, but don't bother us about it in the official forums for Star Trek Online. if crying about spending to much to reach the end game level he explained makes him a cry baby what about us that cant spend that much and getting to end game with the best gear takes years not months just to have some new crafting feature to put use on the bottom for our years of service with only a lifer sub thares games going down hill because of how pay to win ruins things in this way

I say you go to hell and burn with the game if I cant be a worrior because im not a wallot worrior is the something real pvpers have been simply putting up with for a good 4 or 5 years and even worse these people are the very reason these games are going down we keep seeing pay more to win as cheating or payment options turning into pay to win

I must say cheating will never fly in the real pvper gaming community and every good game must end with a fair pvp option to test one self if we can ban pay to win we will try

I used to log in and play every day pretty much, but I have not been in for awhile now and the last time I did it was for one or two minutes. I was having a number of issues, some gameplay and how the game is now, others were technical bug type things. I had made numerous reports of these to no avail so I just gave up. If they cannot seem to be too bothered I decided to take the logical course of action and just not play.

IIRC, Galaxies was closed when TOR came out, and it seemed it was because the license holder demanded it so. Not that Galaxies was in a great state back then, but it was still "chugging along", even if as a shadow of its former self.

And the changes in Galaxies were far more fundamental than the changes in STO. We got a level cap increase. Countless of MMOs have done that before STO. Even STO did it before!

And the levle cap increase was an afford to get a new supply of coals - because the old ones were made from Tier 5 ships and Mark XII gear.

But yeah, the upgrade system is pretty much a joke of a dill sink. Frustrating for those casuals who dont go out and buy zen to turn to dil, or sit in game and grind as many alts as they can for dil.

And recently they buffed the wep dmg of mk xiv weps compare to xii and xiii, screams of "Your gear now sucks, give us money so you can have the cool stuff!"

Anyone count how many CDF have posted here? I tend to ignor the ones who say stop crying and can I have your stuff.

Hmmm... You haven't played much in the last month and you ask if they have fixed bugs, queues or balance. If you have been playing as long as you say then you know that is impossible for Cryptic to fix anything in a month except when it comes to gathering cash. Come back in a year and ask those questions. Nice troll thread. Just like your account name and thread topic.;)

real pvpers, yes! I know right?

there must have been 15 of them in the que at one time during the glorious height of sto' s carefully ballanced pvp system. 15 out of tens of thousands! Genuine interest!

How is it tooo funny? Elite Dangerous consists of very few activities, pirating, bounty hunting, trading, mining, and exploring. The star system might change and you might be in a binary star system rather than a regular star system some of the time, but it is doing the same activity over and over again ad nauseam. Grind unfortunately is a necessary part of all MMORPGs, but STO has a good way to hide the grind with its Foundry system.

So playing missions created by other Star Trek fans where each one is completely unique is more of a grind than Elite Dangerous grind? It is a well known fact that some of the Foundry content is better than what can be created by the devs.

I might have not played Elite Dangerous, but I have seen gameplay videos of it and I have played games similar to it. So I have a good idea about what Elite Dangerous has.

      The queues...

Yep still empty. Still needs a fixing. Basically, the casuals have nowehere to go. Normal doesn;t drop anything they need to get their shinies and advanced will always be too hard for them at this current level.

I have to agree with the OP. I spent another $100 today thinking it might make the game more fun. Do a little R&D. Make a few 'epic' weapons. I succeeded, but I was wrong.

The game has become many things, but a place where friends congregate it's not. It's getting empty. If it wasn't for the dps 10K chat channels, it would be impossible to play when I want to play.

Some people seem to think this is normal activity. It isn't.
Took 4 years to get all this. Forum date does not correspond to actual play/game date.
Look at Legacy of Romulus: After the release spike in May, a steady loss for four months.

LOR must have been terrible for STO, too.

Players come and go. It happens. But i the past 6 weeks I have watched many give up, quit, and leave with a sense that the star Trek game they loved to play - could not await to play - no longer wanted them to play.

Theres a hard set of numbers that support this. Ignore the Steam trends - it's holey inaccurate for real numbers, but it does show trends. Trends we can verify. Fleet roster of the 3 fleets I am a member of the executive show a massive reduction in playtime by it's members. My friends list - formerly active with 40 to 60 on during peak times is down to 5-10. The groups I routinely ran countless STF's in multiple channels has been reduced to one.

The queues continue to be empty. There was a time when you could fill 3 ISE's back to back in PESFT in seconds; today you struggle to fill one.

And don't get me started on the other queues - they have not been active in weeks.

I however still try daily. If anything to do the rep and doffing, doing 2-3 runs with the dps channel, before realizing that the people I used to hang with are no longer here.

Personally I'm not looking for compassion. Games come and go. Players come and go. But this is Star Trek. It doesn't help with guys like this:
Feel free to go f#ck off to whatever other game, hold a wankathon, get hit by a bus, whatever you feel like doing that isn't Star Trek Online, but don't bother us about it in the official forums for Star Trek Online. Buhbye.

Plant, or just a cold wanker -it's an attitude that doesn't hold much sway here. Thats one reason why other are complaining more and more vocally. The anger has spread to Facebook, Twitter and blogs - not to mention Reddit.

I'm not a lifer, but I've pent far more than the average player. I'm staying. And I'm going to be as vocal as possible. Hell, I even bought stock although I'm not sure what I can do with it. It's tanking.
      karcorner wrote: »
I am a lifer and DR has made me re sub back to WOW after almost 2 years. Play Rift too.

The level grind is unreal. It would not be so bad if there were that many DR missions that would level you up. Instead there are very few missions with patrol missions thrown in between which I hate so much. Both those have me not leveling up anymore.

The R&D is also one huge money sink, although I don think it would take much to make it better.
The difficulty of normal missions is out of this world. Normal skilled game play should be easy for everyone to get through. I have no problem with higher difficulties, but don't make the normal so frustrating. Especially with mines and other ships that one shot you, it gets really old dying over and over for terrible mechanics.

I am here everyday for the Winter ship and all that good stuff, I almost regularly log on to to DOFF missions, which is amazing part of the game that WOW has now taken on.

The PVE ques are just sad as heck. I so miss lots of the original stf's that no one ever signs up for, like The Big Dig.

No doubt this is the least amount of people I have ever seen play STO. Looking at the upcoming rumor mill it looks like and I hope they do another "Romulan" size expansion since we may be getting a new playable class.

This post was a decent summary.

Cryptic has sucked the fun out of this game. The team delivered a defective launch, while trying to 'balance' everything they could. The end result was player leaving in droves.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. And again. DR was a financial success. Can't wait to see how they maintain that growth over the next 4 quarters while players leave in droves.

How do you know that Foundry is being played by very few? I check the rating and votes and several missions have thousands of votes. That could be a few players voting hundreds of ties, I guess.

You should try Foundry stuff if you have not. There are some amazing stories (and some TRIBBLE) in there. And frankly, if you are solely dependent on the game designer to create the fun for you, then that's extremely myopic for your gaming experience.

      Good luck.

STO is only "farmville" if you make it into it. The only grind is the grind you inflict on yourself.

Good for you, then go play that game rather than talk about it on a forum not related to Elite Dangerous. There have been enough Elite Dangerous fanbois posting about that game that the rest of us know about it now resulting in lots of us are getting sick and tired of that game, are already trying it out, or waiting for a better space simulator game. It is getting to the point where I am surprised it has not been posted on the FCT by the mods since mentioning Elite Dangerous on these forums only cause problems.
