How do I get a specific DOff

One of the threaded tasks I can never get past part 3 (think its the Caitlan diplomatic one) because it blanks out the fact I dont have a biologist.. Sorry for the really noob question but its confusing me

    Another source if you have the dil to spare is to buy on from the DOFF seller, usally at teh acadameys, though not sure where the RR ne is as I haven't bought one on my RR characters.

    The only reason to buy Commons is as starbase food. Spend a tiny bit more for at least an Uncommon, because they cannot be killed on assignments unless the assignment explicitly states that they'll be removed from your crew.
