I picked up the Sar Theln. I already had the mastery trait from the Mat'Ha, overwhelming force. It supposedly adds a photonic shockwave to beam overload strikes and torp high yields too. Well, I put a bunch of beam arrays on the carrier, and wanted to see what happens with Beam Overload 3.
I didn't notice graphics for shockwaves with the BO hits, and didn't see anything in the CLR parse for it either.
Is overwhelming force only avaiable on the Mat'ha or is it useable with other ships but is bugged right now?
I just did an argala patrol and the Over-force is working... there is a visual to it that looks like an expanding red halo....do you have it active in your starship traits? sometimes the traits get unselected randomly is the reason i'm asking.
Also i did it the patrol using the new elachi ship so the O-force in not limited to the Mat'ha.
It doesn't add photonic shockwave to BO but charged particle burst. Photonic shockwave is added to Torpedo High Yield.
I used it with both BO and THY on my Mah'ta build, and tbh ability is so underwhelming despite it's name. Never really noticed any real effect on the enemies, both PvE or PvP. I guess you have to specialize heavily in skills that boost effectiveness of those abilities. Heck even with maxed flow caps, that shield drain from CPB is whateva.
Personally I've been curious if OF procs from the beam overload proc from the crafting/upgrading system.
Yes, the BO Proc from the weapon does in fact cause the O-force to proc as well....
Gulremal, I totally agree with you... As a PVE person I really do not see any effect on the enemy that gets hit, well except for the explosion that looks pretty cool. Isn't the charged particle burst supposed to affect shields?

I hope it don't get ignored forever... I'm sure if it was a federation trait it would have been fixed by now.
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.
Slot scorpion fighters and watch as every single torp creates a shockwave. Gets crazy when a heap of torps are wandering around looking for new targets.
They clump up and if they all hit at once can knock an NPC ship a clear 10km away from it's initial position.

If I am remembering correctly, it will not show up in any damage parser because the BO Particle Burst is classified as a drain not as damage, so the damage parsers don't count it.

That's why I asked the question. I was looking for clarification on the trait's effect with beam weapons. I was expecting to see something like kinetic damage effect in the parse but I had the wrong effect in mind. The actual effect with beams is a drain and drains won't show in the combat log parses.
On the pluse side, I'm using it with dominion polaron beam arrays, high flow caps skill and a couple of flow capacitor consoles too, so I should have some good shield drains periodically.
I was originally interested in setting up a transphasic mine/ torpedo build using 2-piece KHG and 2-piece breen using the new warp core, but I had a beam setup I was able to easily transfer over from another ship without retraining any bridge officers so I thought I'd start there since the carrier has subsystem targeting too.
The Trait's Beam overload mechanic doesn't work. It's just a light show. The particle animation happens, but that's it. No shields drain or uncloaking on any cloaked targets. Beam overload someone who's popping in and out of enhanced battle cloak. NOTHING HAPPENS TO THEM. I'm speaking English right? Do I even exist? The beam overload particle bursts does completely NOTHING. I've tested it over 240 times with 360 Flow cap skill.

I skimmed through several of the release notes and didn't see anything about overwhelming force....you may be correct.
It's a kdf ability so no one at cryptic cares. It's pretty lousy in my opinion too.
I would be a lot happier with reciprocity. Instead I get a trait that benefits cannons, I use beams, and another that even if it worked, I don't use bo or torpedoes. So also useless.
I turned it off. At least now I can go back to my jhdc and its elite scorpions. The ability was a hinderance spreading mobs all over the map.
unfortunately it is broken. just too bad it wasnt the torp proc that was broken instead. i mean what BS . why would we want to push the enemy further away from us? just love it when you got a mess of spheres in a grave well and some nugget happens to proc one off and scatter them all to hell and back .

Also I think those halos change color based on your beam. If disruptor its an expanding blue sphere halo thingy. If AP, its red. I havent tried it on other color weapons but I assume its changes based on the weapon color
