Okay so Cryptic introduce the Breen Dreadnought, which is pretty much Science orientated however it has no secondary deflector yet it is Tier 6 erm why? It seems a but mad when they introduced secondary deflectors a while back.
Is it me or have the devs lost touch with the player base and their own game?
It's not a Dreadnought. Dreadnoughts do not have Secondary Deflectors anyway.
It's not a Science Vessel. Only Science Vessels have Secondary Deflectors.
It's a Sci-Orientated Carrier.
Its not a dreadnought its a regular carrier. The Razreth is the breen dreadnought and even then there are two higher tiers of dreadnought above the Razreth.

As if science ships had secondary deflectors or as if there were secondary deflectors in the game.

It's a Sci-Carrier, no secondary deflectors for it. Really, I'd rather see some actual secondary deflector options more than anything else in this game, the carrier doesn't need any, other sci vesels (Vesta) needs it, but even then it's barely usable when at this point in time we only have TWO secondary deflectors, one of which is only available on a lobi ship.
@yorethel, secondary deflector right now is feature to science ships t6 not the carriers. Ship classes are following a certain pattern in this game and there is no ship with "all toys". Are they going to allow t5/t5u to use 2nd deflector remains to be seen but from what happens so far - its most logical step these features to be restricted only to t6 science ships coming from boxes/c-store because of obvious reasons.

All federation science vessels features a secondary "navigation" deflector. Go in memory alpha site and watch the schematics of your favorite ships. Nebula, Luna, Intrepid are mere examples of ships carrying such additions. It was a matter of time for them to be implemented in the game.

2nd deflectors, being features and only useful on science ships - are boosting the science powers with specific bonuses: "exotic" damage (deteriorating def, radiation), shield drain (solanaee def) and most logical next deflector is the one to drain...power levels. So aside from that what would you expect in terms of choices???
De shield, damage, power drain - these are the 3 main science power sources. It would be hilarious if they add disable deflector like "granting the tb/cpb/es/tr/vr disable for 3 sec on activation" but lol that would be great for those that pvp

They said there would be 3 types of secondary deflectors if I recall...now since it was so long ago since they mentioned anything about them besides being postponed over and over again I could be wrong.
They said would be for healing, cc, and third is for draining I think...so far they've proven they either can't think of anything for them or just aren't because they don't really give a care about Science.
They said the deflectors will only be for science ships and what makes a science ship is SST and SA.
Beyond that and the two deflectors we've seen since they made those promises almost a year ago we haven't seen anything since but a big *TBA* when they will actually be released.

Look for the next 0.5 season update, likely be when this sort of thing will come imo.
It's been a almost a year and nothing has come of up but TBA...with how much they've proven they care little about Science and all they're concerned about is the pewpew...I wonder if we'll ever see anything beyond the two currently in game.

The Breen ships aren't really intended to be taken seriously. People get them and fly them over Christmas, but I don't think anyone actually flies them all year around.

The Chel Grett is still an excellent destroyer for PvE. My most used ship (4 chars so far). The Risian luxury cruiser is also very strong for an event ship.
And don't forget they are all fleet level and got a free upgrade to FT5-U (with the exception of the Sarr Theln that is already FT6).
All that said, I believe the Sarr Theln could use a buff of some kind. Not too much, but at least some more hull or shields would help.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

TBH, I'm thinking about keeping my sci in the Sarr Theln, I quite like it on that toon.

Granted they aren't all over the place but they aren't just joke ships...the Chel Grett is one of only two destroyers with a 4/4 setup...one is from a lock box...the Plesh Brek is one of only three raiders Feds can fly and only two for Romulans.
The Sarr Theln is the first free T6 ship and first T6 Carrier...the Breen ships aren't as throw away as you think...especially the Sarr Theln.
I for one am going to keep my Sarr Theln for Orion Engineer...

Pwecaptainsmirk said in the podcast when they were testing the Dauntless that they were looking to roll out secondary deflectors to all science orientated vessels, this is why I posed the question.
Some of you aren't sure what qualifies something to be a particular type, I always judge a vessel by what seating and consoles it has, in this case the Breen DN is a Science Carrier Vessel since it has a Commander Science seat and 4 Science consoles plus Subsystem Targeting. The only things it is missing are the Secondary Deflector and Sensor Analysis. Perhaps cryptic could clarify...
I'm using mine on my KDF Science Captain in the absence of any dedicated T6 KDF Science vessels.

Traditionally, full science ships have 3/3 weps, Sensor analysis, Subsystem targetting, low hull and high shields and heavy science Boff seating/console slotting. Those should all at some point receive the Secondary deflector.
Science carriers also have 3/3 weps, Subsystem targetting and heavy science Boff seating and console slotting. However they lack sensor analysis, have very high hulls and of course two hangar bays (shields are mostly high as well, though not so universally as on pure science vessels). These ships were never intended to get Secondary deflectors, afaik.
EDIT: Currently, a good indication of what a given ship is considered may be ship mastery passives. They differ from one type to another.
Not all Science ships get one... I only know of two ships that have a secondary deflector
All science ships ( believe the previous exact wording was: all ships with both SST and SA will get a secondary deflector') are supposed to get one, unless the project has been shelved and we'll stay with only the few we currently have.

I think that the classification of the CMDR-level boff seat has a lot to say in what class a ship is. TAC ships have CMDR TAC seats. ENG ships have a CMDR ENG boff seat. Sci ships have CMDR Sci seats. At least, that's how it used to be before all these universal seats were added a while back.
Not sure how you would classify the few ships that have universal CMDRs, though...
IIRC, subsystem targeting and sensor analysis are what to look for in "science" ships. I believe that's what was mentioned when the Solinae ships were released with the secondary deflectors a year ago.
