Hello fellow Rom STO players
I Decided to do a non-rom ship for Rom Toon, since all i have for my rom are non-t5U ships except for the Breen which i just got recently....

I Do not play with this toon as much i should, but was wondering if this if viable till i get a Rom T5-U/T6 ship or stick with my Mirror/T5 ships due to cloak and Rom Boff for cloak.... since the crit does work with any ship they are on.
I haven't done PVP since DR came into play....and am upgrading to get some gear to better grade, and also saving dil for either a Sim or T6, but still deciding....
Just wondering some thoughts from some Rom Experts
Thanks

I have a Rom Sci toon flying the same ship. The reason being is that when I am flying the Ha'nom Guardian Warbird I do not have enough power to devote to both Weapons and Aux subsystems due to the fact that the singularity core subtracts 40 power points for the singularity abilities. That meant taking power away from weapons and allocating them to aux. That made combat rather long and laborious in missions because of the reduced DPS. That was at level 50 and it got to the point where I was contemplating deleting my Rom Sci toon.
Switching to the Ambassador Retrofit solved the power problem. Despite the fact that it meant I was no longer flying a Romulan ship, has no cloak and only a Lt Cmdr science station, it made playing my Rom Sci toon fun again. Still flying the Ambassador at level 60, briefly tried the Ha'nom in a few missions and quickly switched back. Currently gunning for the Breen Carrier since it has a Cmdr science station.
Got a boxed Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser in case Cryptic takes too long to release a Romulan T6 science ship and I feel the need to fly a Romulan ship again. If I T6 sci ship does become available before that happens, then I will sell the TSABC and get a Plasmonic Leech.
Use TSS, ST, or HE instead. Feel free to change your sci BOFF layout accordingly if needed.
Or go offensive, as I like to do with this ship, and use GW1 instead.
I would drop one of the engi console, and add a tachyokinetic one.
This is quite similar to a build I did with my sci, a long time ago. It was a lot of fun to play with. But it's an AOE build. Switch CSV with CRF for single target. Your main hull heal is HE2, and if you are under heavy fire, RSP will save you.

The tac consoles are obviously polaron. You can also switch some of the consoles around, and change the weapons, as long as you keep polaron as the main damage.
Also, if you go single target, swapping one of the turret for a crafted omni-beam (polaron) might increase your DPS (while it's not affected by the CRF, the DPS is simply much higher than a turret).
My fed rom tac is in a nicor. And you could not *pay* me to go back to a scimitar... the nicor has an actual turn radius, great officer layout, and hits almost as hard. The only reason a scim hits harder is the lack of stealth ambush attack -- that is a powerful thing, but I can live without it.
My rom sci (kdf) is really looking forward to the breen carrier. I was in a recluse or a tal sheir cruiser, both set up for science --- the carrier is just an upgrade to my existing builds and a natural progression.
My rom eng has been all over. Flew my scim for ages, as a glass cannon backed with MW and rotate shields etc. Branched out to a JHDC which was a large reduction in dps and I eventually parked that. Currently in the t5u kazon raider with the caustic plasma cannons, and it does very very well, rom plas set, etc.
If I had a way to get it free, the rom intel ship is looking good. Scim is still a great ship for damage for any class. But the box ships have some gems, esp for sci captains ... and I highly recommend them if you do not mind giving up stealth and singularity tricks.
Was looking this over cause I was wondering about the same. Doing a none Rom ship char.
I have been using the Breen Ship for PVE and get the mastery done for the ship since it is the only ship i have for Mastery leveling for my poor rom , Did some suggested changes with BO abilites and they are very good improvements, but i do miss the cloak and "Hello" Strike, but till mastery or get a T5-U/T6 ship..sometime in the future....
My beef is with the fact that Warbirds pretty much exclusively favor Tac captains with hit and run tactics. The engineering ships have no cruiser commands, and there are no real science ships to speak of (Dyson destroyers don't count).
So I spend all my time playing my Fed sci character while Rom sci and Rom engi gather dust.
rom engineers do quite well. ENG is well suited to escorts, stacking damage officer skills and letting the captain rotate shields and MW keep you alive. Rom eng works great... they can tank it up in a scim or DD or zip around in a tvaro or whatever.
Rom sci, I agree. The dyson flown *as* a sci ship is not bad at all, but only if you bought one of the better versions, the freebie lacks. The fleet sci is not bad, if you have access to it, but its big and slow. But flying a rom sci on a box ship.... is outstanding. I highly recommend you get yours that breen carrier and give THAT a good chance. It might be 1 sci console short but I think it will be a strong setup. Or, to put it mildly, imagine the powers of a fed sci but as a rom you can also make a strong weapons build. Combine the two, is deadly. Even the 6 gun carrier... with SRO officers, and the tac consoles, and AP goodness, and intel OSS buff for both sci and weapon power... and ... /happy
