As my understanding per the P1 episode 200 podcast is, as Geko stated, before the crafting revamp a mk I through mk XII item were actually different items, but now, in the new system, they are the same item with different stats.
With today's patch mk XIII and Mk XIV are getting a substantial boost to their damage output making a greater rift between upgraded players and more casual players.
So... I think it would be great to be able to set item levels in private matches. Doing so would allow players with different levels of gear to be able to play more on equal footing.
For example, if I had all mk XIV epic gear and my firend wanted to 1v1 against me with his precrafting toon, we would be able to set gear to Mk XII. I would obviously have more mods on my gear but there wouldn't be that 30% rift between us.
I think this would open pvp to a lot more players.
It would be amazing but then so would many many things that PvP desperately needs and hasn't received in the last four years muffin.
yeah totally. I'm not holding my breath, but at least they have the technology now.
Geko in his thread about increasing the DPS of top end gear sounded as if he knows it will suck for pvp but there's nothing that can be done. That's not true at all. They have the technology, but not the will to implement it.

LOL "it can't be done", and LOL like he cares about PvP or anything else that players enjoy for that matter. Everything is aimed solely at making R&D a requirement for playing.
I feel like I have spent the last 5-6 weeks working towards a "future" fun time, and the thought that I still have many more weeks to go before that "future fun time" can happen, has me really thinking if this is all really worth it
This is so true isn't it. Everything premised on some future "thing" that never, ever materializes. Instead we get some insane, repetitive, re-skinned Zerg fest of mindbogglingly monotonous "events" which leave me wanting to burrow my eyes out with a pencil.
