Thats the space station in the background of Earth Spacedock
Edit- In hindsight that came across as very demanding and rude , I'd like to clarify that Its merely a suggestion rather than a demand
These are the Voyages on the STO forum, the final frontier. Our continuing mission: to explore Pretentious Posts, to seek out new Overreactions and Misinformation , to boldly experience Cynicism like no man has before.......
Perhaps an undated version of the Regula Station would work. I could live with that. They should also make space stations different sizes. The don't always need to be huge. Maybe an Economy size
only trouble is this would call for new art, I think our best chance is to get some of the stations that were in ESD space in the short term. I dont know how much it would take to get new assets like that made up (but I would totally love to have them )
As a general rule, the Foundry will not get new objects made specifically for it. What we get are objects already in-game somewhere, and while I don't think there are any exact replicas of the Regula-type station, there are some similar-ish ones from Utopia Planitia I think.
Taco did say at one point that one of the next batches of objects he wants to add is more space stations, so we could get some of those.

Nice to know that he's aware of the desire for space assets

Ahhhh, space assets.. the dream, a rugged DS9 inspired Fed/Rom/Kdf hybrid of a forward firebase.. useful to say the least, tactical gameplay with your new "crash" base behind you, defending it (qued) using it in territory control... ahh the dream...
Yup, stations are in the next object batch I have planned. Though I'm afraid we don't have a Regula type station. . .
Yeah, I remember a lengthy forum discussion about the lack of canon-station models in most STO missions. It's odd that an iconic and often used model like the Regula-type is missing from the game. Although the Jupiter Station-type and the Utopia Planitia-type exist, they are not used in ANY proper story mission... :-(
So...solution....Pitch it so that you have a reason to model them on a future map to be added! That way the model gets included, we have a chance to see it in the foundry...everyone wins!

I'm sure they could find a place to use an old science station, Could be a creepy setting for halloween missions me thinks

Well, Utopia Planitia station was made for the First Contact Day event, the exterior map just never got hooked up for some reason.
I don't know why Jupiter Station was built, but it was built long before I got on the project, and it's a pretty crude version. It's also about 20x larger than it should be.

OOOH! OOOH! I KNOW WHY!
Back in year 1 the team made maps for the entire solar system (these maps are in the foundry now). I've got money that Jupiter station was made for the Jupiter map (which is pretty oddly constructed for one of STO's maps). And the scale probably means that the map was intended for a shuttle mission or its ilk because the map is overscaled too!

'cuz we didn't want an extraneous map-load for players going to the anniversary event.

you mean like beam up from ESD>warp to Mars orbit>beam down to UP?
I was kinda wondering about that. the mission where you got the Oddy prototype had a space map with Mars, UP, and stuff, and it seemed a bit odd that we could never go back there.
BTW.... are we ever going to be able to get the special consoles that the in-mission Oddy had?

This is the main reason when I do my massive assembly line of KDF doffing for dilithium and contraband that I love the holiday event because of the warp to qo'nos option. Take 18 x 4loading screens that it saves me. It adds up to wasted time loading screens that I have no use for lol.

I just tinkered with Jupiter and Saturn.
1: whoever made those did awesome work! I was able to look at things and recognize them!
2: for some reason most of the moons are outside the navigable map.
3: on the Jupiter map, the asteroid moons that are inside the navigable area behave oddly... you can't see them from as far away as you'd expect most objects like that to be visible.... or maybe it's an illusion caused by the fact that I can see Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto from almost everywhere. :P
4: if you go below an altitude of -15000 on the Saturn map it warps you back to the spawn point instead of giving you the standard map border message.

Are not all the stations way larger then they should be? Or is Jupiter Station too large compared to them?

Several station designs in the game look very un-trekky, e.g., the Treasure Trading Station or the Korvat Medical Lab ("The Ultimate Klingon"). Unfortunately, the minor revamp the Klingon War-missions had received did apparently not provide for enough time to design a Regula-type station replacing those models.
However, the Utopia Planitia Shipyards as they are depicted in Second Star to the Right, Straight on 'til Morning are an eye-sore and should be replaced with the already existing "First Contact" map a.s.a.p. ...

Well, yes and no. Some stations are larger than they should be (DS9, K7, Jupiter Station).
ESD is the right size. Many of the other stations are not canon, so who's to say?

I don't even remember what those stations look like at the moment. . .
Ya, I've mentioned replacing the Second Star to the Right station now that we have a proper UPS station to work with. I think that's likely to happen next time we do a revamp on early content, like we a while back.

IIRC the station in Treasure Trading Station isn't even Federation, it's actually a pirate hangout.

I hope that gets revamped and possibly we have some kind of end game mission like it since raiders/birds of prey kinda feel somewhat undeveloped due to the fact that they are raiders but yet the only actual raiding in the game is that mission lol.
One thought I had when playing the new winter holiday event is something that a base like a regula space station could be used for some new content like that holiday event. Depending across any and all instances to calculate either npc or players on who wins the advancement of flipping say a regula space station from npc enemy ownership to federation/alliance(romulans and KDF). I could without a doubt see this especially if you wanted to say make a story where you want to continue delta quadrant content and also do children of khan at the same time. Where these children are given very strong telepathic abilities unforseen and escape and just happen to find an iconian gate which they take to the devore homeworld and then a war breaks out testing the alliance of the federation, KDF< and romulan republic lol
Then we do raiding on the devore space and we get new orion ships as well as raiders which would have orion tech to help rescue telepaths who are in custody of the devore which for a cash grab be something federation players find useful lol. This is just my 2 cents anyways to get something fun like this mission brought/brings to the game when you are leveling but an emphasis to build all this stuff and flesh out the last of the KDF underdeveloped content if a revamp is every done with this area of the game.

Treasure Trading Station - Looks more like something from Eve Online. The interior actually looks good now after the minor revamp with Season 8.5. However, the interior still shows an old-ish looking trade outpost within a super-futuristic, untrekky station model...
Korvat Medical Lab - I think this rusty buoy is used several times throughout the game. It MIGHT pass for some alien base, but certainly not for a Starfleet Medical station.
I can't wait to see revamped versions of the Fek'Ihri Return- and Romulan Mystery-epsiodes as well as the Second Star to the Right, Straight on 'til Morning and Keep Your Enemies Closer missions!!!

And these would be nice, as a more 2410 looking replacement for the aging Regula Design

Just the maxed interior would be nice too, with all the unlocks.

TRIBBLE Hydra! Hail Janeway!
Yeah, the lower-tier fleet base models are nice looking and very reasonably sized.
