Boff Science Space ability combinations

organicmanfredorganicmanfred Member Posts: 3,236 Arc User
Hey my dear game mechanic experts :D Yes, it is me again.

For the Commander Sci/Uni and Lt. Commander Sci/Uni slots, I am looking for ability combinations.

I have access to nearly all Sci abilities and ranks: ST, HE, PH, TSS, ES, TBR, TR, GW.
Doffs: most Purple Deflector Officers, most Purple Gravimetric Scientists, Graga Mal,
Orotha Venna.

What I woul love to have is a Drain ability officer (CMD/LTCMD) one GW III & Heal officer (CMD/LTCMD) and one all purpose officer (CMD/LTCMD. I will have Ensign and Lieutenant Sci/Uni slots for healing only.

Maybe some of you can help me with some logical combinations?

Thank you

Well, let's play a bit with combinations.

    Commander: X - X - X - X
    Lt. Comm.: X - X - X

    Drain:

    X - X - GW1/TB3/TBR* - TR3
    X - X - ES2

I use TR3 and ES2 for the drain and one skill to hold the target in place. So either Grav well or tractor beam or tractor beam repulsor with pull doff (*). X are the ensign and lt. abilties for heals

    Exotic:

    X - X - TBR2 - GW3
    X - X - TR2

Something like this. Maybe GW1 and TBR3 instead at the commander. TR2 because it is also a deflector ability and reduces CD due to Doffs (and does damage).

    Heal:

    X - X - HE3 GW3
    X - X - TS3/ST3

All purpose...well, let's debate that after more people made suggestions.

I hope I understood your question right :)

drain what (shields or power or both?)
I mean a drain could mean TR, siphon, tractor beam with shield drain officer, and tachy beam maybe. The order/ranks of these is highly customizable.

Things to avoid are cooldown shared goofs... you can't for example use tractor beam AND repulsor together, and you can't use TR and GW together (you can sorta overlap the cooldowns but its messy and inefficient).

There is no general purpose sci. Either you use flowcaps skils or particle gen skills, really, but you can't mix the two effectively --- unless alll you want is a nuisance GW or a missile/mine busting TBR utility type build.

Healing is easier. Sci team, HE, TSS. Use mirror hak for HE maybe?

General purpose to me means HE, siphon, players choice, and GW3. Or GW2 and player's choice. If you do not need the power level increase from siphon (warbird issue for me) you can put a heal there or something else. Its really just user's choice X4 skills but one should *probably* be HE and another might be polarize hull or something handy.

Wow, thanks for the perfect replies.

You know, I am very terrible at the game mechanic here, and english not being my native language makes it sometimes a bit more harder to understand what I need :D

For ships with Ensign --> Lieutenant Sci slots I will use heals and buffs/debuffs, and for higher grade Sci slots I will use additional exotic and (Shield/SubS) drain/healing abilities.

I also asked because I use only Human Boffs for space, and I have 2 females created based on the X-Men's Storm and Polaris. The Storm Boff gets GW3 plus exotic and healing/de-buff, and Polaris gets the drain and de-buff abilities.

Thanks again for your explanations, and get ready for my incoming engineer and tactical related threads :D:P

    Your welcome.

Nice, that you have a X-men themed crew :)
