Okay, I'll bite. What's the connection between CBS and two stupid billboards? Are the Illuminati involved? Bilderberg Group? Reptoids? Greys?

    In order:
    1. What in God's name is that last paragraph banging on about?
    2. What do your links have to do with the paragraph below them?
    3. And what do either of them have to do with the thread title?
"Great War! / And I cannot take more! / Great tour! / I keep on marching on / I play the great score / There will be no encore / Great War! / The War to End All Wars"

cbs is part of the sto setup, they own the rights to trek.

...i dont get their point ether, why would cbs wanna insult people instead of entertain them?

I can't connect the OP stuff any better than anyone else, but MOST entertainment is wired into the political world and *routinely* insults people. Hollywood does constant insults to certain regions of the country with stereotypes. The big stations constantly voice political opinions as fact, news, or just plain statements, which alienates some audiences. Famous individuals, whether wealthy owners or movie stars or TV personalities, also get on this bandwagon and pipe up on such things.

WHY? I do not know. But they *all* do it regularly. CBS is no different, and no worse, than any other.

So, CBS owns the billboard support structures for those 2 billboards. Doesn't mean they support the billboard advertisements.

well the billboard with the girl saying bible teachings are a fairy tale unnecessary and an insult since those who do believe know better. if cbs puts it name up there on all of these billboards (and there are many) they seem to want to undermine me and those of our faith too. i shared this for people here who are Christian, as trek fans would be interested to know. if your not a Christian or care about their anti-Christian campaign why worry about it?

Considering your article didn't actually mention CBS, and taking into account the fact that the CBS logo is painted on the billboard frame rather than the ad attached to it, I'd be willing to bet they're not actually involved and just happen to own the billboard itself.

I'm inclined to agree--I know you're disenfranchised by the CBS/PW/Cryptic Complex, catsrar, but I think you're reading too much into this one.

Star Trek itself, on the other hand, does occasionally take a stab at religion, which always kind of annoyed me even though I'm more or less agnostic.

Then again, it is increasingly common for corporations to take "moral" stances, and being anti-religious is currently a politically correct one.

Attacking religion is different than attacking the people that identify with said religion.

CBS are just cold money-grubbing capitalist Ferengi, nothing more - nothing less. They'd put a bilboard saying "**** America and **** freedom, Shpoks for Grand Poobah!" if I pay them enough.

So I wouldn't dwell on them too much, they just saw the $$$ and had to pick 'em up, just as any well trained capitalist pirranha would do. I'd personally take more offence from the person designing those bilboards.

A person believes what they believe, a religious organisation has their path to tread, but cbs is a business. people should be thankful Christians arent as violent and vengeful as islam is, if u had spoken against anything or anyone involved in theirs no guarantee the gov would protect u from em....and before u bring up the inquisition, if they had truly been Christian they would have reflected the words of Jesus!

Then there's that. There's a bit in the gospels somewhere that says to follow these two Commandments above all the others: "Love the Lord your God", and "Love thy neighbor." I'm reminded of a picture I saw once of a sign outside a Methodist church saying "God prefers kind atheists over mean Christians."

That's a No True Scotsman fallacy. Just because people do horrible things doesn't exclude them from any particular religion.

Also, I find it unfair that you would criticize Islam so harshly, but not apply the same logic to your own religion.

Yeah, actually it does, considering that pretty much every major religion in modern times shares roughly the same value set, a value set that considers those actions verboten. The Westboro Baptist Church aren't true Christians any more than ISIS are true Muslims. They're all dickwads who twist and quote-mine the scriptures into a square peg in a round hole so that it superficially looks like their agenda is supported.

A Christian is someone who believes in and follows the word of God...if they curse they arent counted among the faith. even if you dont believe, it should be common practice of any society to do kindness to all u encounter. i think Christians get a bad name by people who call themselves such and dont follow the ways... u wouldnt call yourself a pilot if u dont fly a plane would u?

Then turn the other cheek, as the billboard is clearly criticizing those you declare aren't True Scotsmen. It shouldn't even be an issue for you in that case.

But, since you're getting all huffy and defensive over it, one might suspect that you're not all that different from those you say aren't Scots.

    Ummmm...

You might want to check this out, CBS doesn't run the sign company anymore.
They have stock in it, but are slowly divesting themselves of it.

Those left-over logos on the frames are no longer valid.

You might want to direct your disapproval toward "Outfront Media" now.

now u bring up a good point, should Christians be alienated by businesses and functions since they dont fit the new political correct movement? even before i became one i was always received well from them, people of faith went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome, hearth came to mind. but what drew me to this lifestyle was how i was received when i went back to people who were not! when I say I love Jesus to a Christian i get a hug, when i say it to everyone else i get...i get to see peoples angery side lol

There are thousands of denominations of Christianity, both official and not. They're constantly telling each other that they're the only real Christians. Add to that, there are extremists within any world view, religious or not.

There aren't "true" Christians or "true" Muslims. Someone either is a Christian, is a Muslim, or is neither.

There's a way of how we can objectively define who is or isn't part of those religions. And it doesn't even have to be with a dictionary. Just ask someone. If they identify as a Christian or a Muslim, then they indeed are in fact the religion that they identify as. It may not be what everyone else would want, but IMHO, it's fair.

No one follows the "Word of god" exactly any more. And good for them, there's a lot of heinous stuff in that holy book when taken on face value.

Ignore them. The mods probably will, and you should too. You shouldn't be persecuted just because you're offended by something.
