Eng/ Cruiser Stat Questions

odisseusrhodisseusrh Member Posts: 0 Arc User
ok back in the day before DR dropped I didn't really "care" about the stats/mods on my ships weapons. Didn't have the luxury to be picky. Now with craft/upgrading system in place I do. So my T5U Galaxy Class has in a combat zone 28% bonus Acc, 2.5% Crit Chance and 50% Crit Severity. So..... Is 5% the cap Crit chance and 50% the crit severity cap? if so my 5x Beams that have [Acc]x3 really need to go right?

That is the base crit chance and base crit severity. Everyone has that much at minimum.

The maximum crit chance is 100%. There is no cap on crit severity. There are, of course, practical limitations on how much of each you can get.

ok but that still doesn't answer my question: I have +25%~ Bonus Accuracy in combat should be dropping some of my [Acc]x3 weapons for something like this [Acc][CritH]x2 or [Acc][CritH][CritC]?

Acc is for pvp. If you want pve, go for CrtD.

If you go to just outside ESD, not out in sector space, and check your stats, you should see that actual crit chance.
ACC mod helps hit fast moving targets. Most of what you see in STFs do not move very fast.
So, other mods should help more in many STFs.

Now, for the fun part. Using consoles, romulan operative tac officers, etc. once you get crit chance close to or past 10%, if you switch to crtd weapons, you should see an improvement in DPS. It might be much lower than 10%, but it's a good benchmark to shoot for.

I used to use DMGx3 weapons. I heard about CRTD being better, and at about 8% crit chance, it showed a slight difference. It may have been continuous improvement in playstyle, piloting, positioning as well that contributed to the higher DPS, but it's been really important for me in STFs for a long time.

Either way, CRTDx2 or CRTDx3 based weapons should provide a boost to DPS in PvE if you get that base crit chance up near 10% before weapons are part of the equation.

    probably.
if for PVE, you do not need any accuracy at all --- the accuracy you get from other sources is *plenty* (you should have some here and there, your captain skills, maybe your consoles or deflector, etc, rep trait maybe, captain trait (?) ... I cant recall all the sources).

Your weapons should be critdX4, ideally. Crit chance, like accuracy, should come from other sources. Ideally you end up with over 200% crit damage and "about" 20% crit chance in a PVE dps build**

That is of course ideal --- you may have to settle for cridx3 weapons due to expense and tedium of upgrades.

You should never need accx3 weapons in PVE. NPCs are not that hard to hit. ACC CRIDx3 would be OK.

That said, its a galaxy. Spending billions on weapons for this ship may not be a good use of resources (compared to spending it on a 5 tac console dps monster ship).

remember that even in the right area, your stats will NOT show your weapon mods. So if your crit damage multiplier is only 100% but you have AP with crit damage X4 on them, you really have 200.

** you won't get that far. You won't have enough fleet tac consoles to reach so high; not sure what it will cap out at on a gal.

Unfortunately, the galaxy is horribly outclassed nowadays in tankiness and damage potential by many other ships. So, if you want to stick with the galaxy series, make sure you are comfortable with maximizing what it can do since it's only going to take you so far. It pains me to say this because I loved the galaxy. For a while, it was my favorite and best tank.
If you are using the galaxy as a stepping stone ship before getting a newer ship, then learning how to maximize things will only help you out that much more when you get that newer ship later on.

On the bright side, if you buy weapons for it, they will move to a different ship. The current lockbox ship, the benthan "cruiser", actually looks to be exceptionally good as a middle of the road "tanky dps ship" with "better than average" damage potential.

About to upgrade an Epic Mk 13 Dual Phaser Bank today or tomorrow along with some other nice Mk 10-12 arrays. (VR and UR) and nice thing is there BoA so if I don't like it on him I can send it to quite a few other officers.

You do have all your BOF Stations Very Rare Purple or better and DOF for your Active Space Very Rare Purple or higher right? Acc2 for me seems to hit on fast moving targets in PVE. I don't use PVP as I am not your enemy and don't feel like stressing out over game player moves.

There are some universal consoles with extra boost for acc. I run 3 ships but my main one will always be the Risian Luxury Cruiser Battleship!

Romulans are the only ones that have boffs with space traits which improve with quality. I'm guessing that he doesnt have access to embassy boffs, just quest rewards and exchange boffs. If he has access to a fleet embassy then he could get the boffs that have space traits that improve with quality. He's a fed so the only space trait he has easy access to is leadership and that is kinda poopy. If he starts upgrading his boffs to rare and VR quality he is just going to gain better ground traits.

Actually, as long as your fleet has provisions, you can go shopping on a map invite from a more developed fleet. The host fleet's level is used in terms of store unlocks; yours is used in terms of dilithium costs and provisions used. This works (I think) for anything EXCEPT the fleet ships themselves.

The fleet tac consoles and eng are well worth it - you can pick up Neutronium or Monotanium armors with +Turn, RCS consoles with 1/2 a console worth of either monotanium of neutronium as the bonuses, and the tactical consoles have the same or slightly better weapons boosts as the standard ones PLUS either a CrtD or CrtH add-on.

In fact, one of the best ways to do a high-DPS build involves using the fleet CrtH tac consoles with CrtD weapons (to really max out, AP CrtDx4's, but you can approach similar results with other weapons types and/or CrtDx2 or x3).

I have the 2 eng console from Dil mines. ones Mk 13 and the others Mk 11 atm so a bit of upgraded..... I didn't get a + turn console because quite frankly I love the turn rate I have right now....and if I really need to turn faster against fast moving targets I drop the saucer off and go full tactical on them.

Better to use Neutronium [hullhp]. the only time you need to use turn consoles is if you are not used to playing the ship or your playstyle is more aligned to agile cruisers.

However, since DR, Neutroniums are not that much needed compared to pre-DR.

I never needed Saucer separation in PVE. You just dont need it not unless you are not use to the turn rate or you have different playstyle. FAW Spam of a Fleet galaxy R t5u is already doing the job of the DPS. Its already got 3 Tac consoles compared to 2 before. And if you are using romulan plasma, 3 additional embassy consoles that adds damage and threat. Galaxy R is one of those ships that benefited with increased DPS on DR with additional Tac console.
