"Character guides" for famous Trek characters?

On one of my toons I would like to make my Vulcan tactical BOff look like Tuvok, my Liberated Borg BOff look like Seven and my new Talaxian BOff look like Nelix.

I know that might not make sense given how these character are now in Delta rising, but it doesn't change the fact that I'd like to have legendary characters on my bridge crew.

Since we have excellent character models for these famous characters in the game can we get official "character guides" so we know what changes to make in the character tailor to make our BOffs look like famous characters?
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."

Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

    Isn't that against the TOS?

Yeah, but there's a difference between characters like VanZyl, Zemara, Loriss and such who were created for the game and characters like Tuvok, Neelix, McCoy, Worf and such whose appearance comes from real people, the actors that played them. Like badmoonrizin, I'm fairly sure that trying to duplicate the images of real people (Even if you're trying to make 'Tuvok', it's still Tim Russ's appearance) is a no-no.

You cannot create characters in the likeness of real people.

Its actually impossible to recreate certain characters because they don't have certain specifics loaded in the game. For instance, there's no partial balding hairstyle like jean-luc picard, and words hairstyle isn't available anywhere. I'm pretty sure Sevens optical implant isn't loaded, either. So far, the only characters I've been able to recreate accurately are Geordi LaForge and Beverley Crusher, and even those are only vaguely recognizable. They don't even have Doctor Crushers medical overcoat. So, I'm pretty sure there will be no guidelines, and no reason to worry about ToS.

I think you'll find that seven implants have been in the game for quite some time. (you just have to pay for them. Also I think they did indeed ad a balding hairstyle recently, so you could make picard look-a-like if you really wanted to. (not sure if you should, but you could.)

Yeah, Seven's implant is part of the "Seven of Nine" costume pack in the C-Store (Female FED captains and BOffs and Female KDF Marauding DOffs only) and they recently added 'balding' and 'middle part' hairstyles to the tailor(These stick in my mind as they seem to be the first time that Orion males have been allowed to have any hairstyle except bald) - I think because it needed to be an in-game asset for The Doctor and the EMH mk I 'Medic' and they just made it open to players while they were at it.

I was not aware they had given Orian males hair options. I am gonna have to make use of that quickly in case they decide it was a mistake and take the option away.:D

During one of my random adventures on Nimbus III I came across someone with a curious sighting:

Well, yeah. One of my fleetmates (he's the fleet leader, actually) has one character made to look like Spock. If I remember correctly, it wasn't too bad, either - I think it was even better than the one in your image.

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.p3OEBPD6HU3QI.jpg

    Boom! Thread necromancy.

This is a topic that is near an dear to me because for quite a while I've been wanting to do a canon play through with Picard. All the options are there I just lack the skills and patience with the character creator to make them. I've seen many AWESOME parties during my travels and a lot of stunning look alikes.

If anyone could create the guides that would be fantastic. There are already a few around on STO gamepedia for Data and a few others around the place but Picard is the hardest. He has a very specific face.

Which brings me to another question, are there any sites for sharing saved uniforms and would that work? There's an editor I've been using extensively allowing me to change my uniform save from one species to another, I use this to fix the atrocious random alien faces quickly. Would it be possible to share them? Allowing people to make a cool unique character or look alike and upload it? There were dozens of these sites for Mass Effect, I did an Obama play through not long ago for fun. :)

Personally I always thought restricting the names of BOffs and ships was rather annoying. It needlessly restricts role playing playthroughs that many people really enjoy and is just needlessly restrictive.

Don't some people have a EMH BOFF? Can they save the appearance and load it to another BOFF?

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

The EMH BOff has unique facial textures and head shape.

On this subject, I usually do composites of different actors who have played aliens which gives me a feel for species parameters and the bulk and feel of the makeup.

Here's my Cardassian take I'm currently running with:

    rlmUbqJ.jpg

I think you can see traces of different people in there. I gather the Klingons are getting a slider revamp and I hope the Cardassian enemies from the DS9 arc revamp move in this direction as they seem too squarefaced and short-proportioned to me in game.

I have a Cardassian toon that is by far my favorite so far. I'd post links but for some utterly idiotic reason I can't even embed the pictures. >.>

But we need a way to share our Uniform files, I have a half dozen cardassians, boslics, jem'hadar, kobali and an android others might like to use to save them the effort. I don't see why the uniform and face file wouldn't work on other peoples game. . . .

They just get dropped into D:\Games\Perfect World ARC\Star Trek Online_en\Star Trek Online\Live\screenshots folder ( At least for me ) Then they can be loaded onto the appropriate race and gender. Looks like you can do the same with ship customization.

Isn't the likeness thing only about the foundry?
Player characters aren't something Cryptic would be responsible for, unlike the foundry which is actual content.

That's what I thought and the way I interpreted it. It is being used for personal private use only, not monetized in any way. Otherwise you couldn't play Obama in Mass Effect or Tom Cruise in Skyrim. . . if you wanted to. It's all about players choice, the editor is a wonderful tool and if this is how people choose to enjoy the game, so be it.

I just lack the skill to make a decent Picard face. :( But I would pay someone to do it. :P Like, seriously. . . .

I was also thinking, it's pretty damn fantastic you can change faces, hair and uniforms without having to pay for a micro transaction. Gotta love that.
