Do you prefer sniper rifle or pulsewaves?
Regardless the TR-116 and the C-Gun are ideal weapons for dealing with any thing that has shields, Which is most tech based enemies. This does not include anything in Bug Hunt. Which I personally prefer the Voth set for, though I agree that the toxin resistance of the CC set is a strong. Mowing through BHE is great fun though I agree, and remains very lucrative.
Both. The TR for stuff I don't want to get too close to, and the combat shotgun for everything else.
Of the two, the shotgun is the most fun. Great for no-rate Borg and Tholian mooks. And a real blast (no pun intended) when taking on Hirogen Stalkers in a little bit of CQC.
However, once again, there are hostiles you don't want to close with. And there are opponents that make a point to keep their distance if you try to close. That's why the combat shotgun in STO is largely a secondary weapon or situational tool. Thus, that's why instead of choosing between the two, why not carry both?
If you don't have a pulsewave or a shotgun, you're just mental. Also, for your secondary, I would STRONGLY suggest the splitbeam rifle as that mission is a target-rich environment. The Synchronic AP Beam that chains for it's secondary is also not a bad option if you're going the cheap route.
On a side note, I noticed this is a map where having Engineers is muy importante; I notice in PUGS if there are too many tacs they can get wiped.
They're on the exchange at roughly 7M EC for a VR version.
Or, if you're level 15 at ground R&D and have the suitable doff, you can craft it. The purple doff needed is pretty expensive though.
At least at level 15 & 16, the Purple Ground DOff does not, according to the sliders in MY crafting window, offer any chance of crit-ing on the TR project, so you may as well use the White one. If lucky, you may pick one up in the "R&D Assistance" DOffing missions, or you could pick one up on the exchange. Her name (for the Fed version) is Hinni. Last week, she was going for +20,000,000 EC, but I bought one a day or so ago for an alt for 9 mil, and there were several others for not much more.
Really, unless you are going to make a number of guns, you might as well just buy the gun rather than hunt down the DOff.
