What's with the rubbish secondary deflector on the new Intrepid??

I mean, really, it's a common Mk X that can't be upgraded. Why not give us a little something that's half way decent? Like something that not only would be worth upgrading but something that actually can be upgraded!!

Anyone else agree?

Except for the special unique consoles and such, the default equipment on all ships is complete junk.

Surely if you're high enough level to fly a T6 ship you've noticed that before?

Oh, I know that, but I would have thought that they'd put a half decent secondary deflector on like they did with the original Dyson Destroyer based on the fact that there are no others in the game that are any good.

And therein lies the problem, what you and I and most other reasonable people "would have thought" is not the way Cryptic think, and it covers just about all aspects of this game except the one shining light which is Taco and his team.

For the entire life of the game, Cryptic have always put bug standard white gear in their ships (with a very few exceptions). Why would you think the secondary deflector on a bog standard Z-store ship would garner any special consideration?

Probably because better 2nd Deflectors are to be released soon.

    Just a guess.

I would gladly take a new t6 ship with a flaw over nothing at all ... but nothing at all is what I got.

I'm guessing that too. They've said that season 10 will have a new fleet holding and with all the new science ships getting a secondary deflector slot I would guess that we'll have a delta themed fleet holding with secondary deflectors.

It's TRIBBLE because it's Mk X white. It's not supposed to really do anything, it's just a placeholder.

Omg, they're SECONDARY DEFLECTORS. They are not primary deflectors. They do not, and will not, have anywhere near the same abilities or stats as the main deflectors. What, did you think you were gonna get to double up on whatever your primary deflector gives you? Have some common sense, people. You've been asking and asking when these were gonna start being released. Now when it seems that they are gonna finally start happening, you have nothing but complaints? WTF is wrong with you people? Be happy you got them, and that they are increasing your abilities, regardless of by how much.

unless they are fixing it as we speak, maybe the reason it is TRIBBLE is that Secondarys are very close.

I know im crazy but a man can dream. :)

I'll ignore your little temper tantrum and point something out.

Have you seen the Dyson secondary deflector? It doesn't double up on what the primary deflector does, it adds something that's meaningful and different. I'm not wanting to double up on the primary deflector. I'm wanting there to be more than one good and a couple bad secondary deflectors in the game. Wanting to be able to choose from more than one good option is nothing that I will ever apologise for, considering that every ship that can use them is a paid for ship.

Er no actually, wtf is wrong with you is more apt.

Secondary deflectors, we were told, would be available in the dilithium upgrade tab, they are, or rather it is, and it is the same ****e that appears on the ship, doesn't look like an upgrade to me. What's more this particular placeholder is just that and cannot be upgraded. So the only good one in the game is the Dyson ship one. Are they expecting us to buy that ship too?

Nobody is saying it should be as good as the main deflector, I doubt anyone is that naive, that's why it's called SECONDARY duh! What we are expecting is some choice, you know, something that adds value to the product.
We were told we could find the Secondary Deflctor it in the Dilithium Store in case we don't have already a Secondary Deflector. It doesn't mean there would be a different one, a better one, or an upgradeable one. Just that if you don't have one, there is a place you can get one.

Yet another entry on the long and growing list of "customer complaints Cryptic could avoid if they would take the time to do things in a halfway logical manner". What's the point of even having a secondary deflector slot if there's nothing on the market to install in it? There is exactly one secondary deflector in this game at time of release and it's attached to a C-Store ship. (Or a Lobi ship; I forget which.) Reminds me of this Dilbert strip.

The mkX secondary deflector is not that bad. Yeah the one on dyson destroyer is better but hopefullyThey come out with more soon. Will have to wait and see it would be kind of stupid if they don't. :)

There are two. The Solane Secondary Deflector and the Deteriorating Secondary Deflector.

Oh, I'm sorry, there are two! Now, that's a huge amount of customer choice! /sarcasm

Seriously, you've got one deflector that's worth a damn, and another that's a garbage vendor trash item and doesn't hardly count.

The secondary deflector deals 270.4 radiation damage per second with 50% penetration.

The soloneae secondary is arguably better if you have a drain build because of the flow capacitors, but the pathfinder secondary deflector is not (that) bad.

And let's not forget that it may become upgradable in the future.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Not to argue, because I wouldnt mind more selection myself, but that Solanea 2nd deflector is actually not half bad upgraded.
+ We got the Dyson ship for free.

Should the Intrepid have came equipped with a better 2nd Deflector ? I suppose it wouldnt have hurt. But if it did have a "new" 2nd deflector, would it have been that much better then the Solanea 2nd Deflector, equal or just marginally better ?

I dont think we'll see anything better then the Solanea until fleet 2nd deflectors arrive.

And how much better will those be ?
I can see them getting one more stat then the solanea has currently. But not much more.

I was also surprised the Dauntless only had the deteriorating one too...why call it "deteriorating" by the way, it sounds terrible! And I'm glad I kept my free Solonae and I just upgraded the deflector for some decent stats :-)

The default Deteriorating Secondary Deflector is actually pretty useful; moreso than the Solanae if you aren't aiming for a shield-draining Torpedo Sci boat.

Simply because it adds Rad damage, which is boosted by the CC Tactical Console from Surface Tension, and combined with Bio Phaser/Disruptors, the Enhanced Bio Torp, and the Neutronic Torpedo, allows for almost continuous Radiation DoT. Tyken Rift GWell'd opponents. FaW or TorpSpread or HighYield those clustered groups.
