Just a few things.

I see nearly no difference between Dual cannons and heavy dual cannons. The DPS is the same and heavys drain more energy when fired with other weapons. Only the crit severity on heavy cannons tells them apart, but its not often noticeable since getting that is a matter of chance. a higher % of the time the weapon deals the same as the plain duals and drains more energy. I think there should be a little more difference between the two. I often get told not to bother with heavy cannons for these reasons.

Even tho you are clearly flying faster than a torpedo weapon either after using evasive maneuvers or are just plain faster than them, if they are not a destructible type they will still hit you even if they don't visibly impact you, while you are still moving faster than them too.

Why are there so few options for 360d beam weapons? they wouldn't even have to do any more damage than the turrets, just be beams instead of cannons.

Medical Supplies, Terraforming systems, etc. show up in the cargo bay tab of the duty officer roster window, so why do they also show in player inventory?

Well I don't know who's telling you not to bother with heavy cannons and stick to regular, but they have their math wrong. Since heavies fire their load faster and have a longer time to recover energy between cycles, they actually end up doing about 10% more damage than standard dual cannons. Non-heavies are mostly a niche weapon for a few special per-shot abilities (most are per-volley) or for aesthetic or cost reasons. But for damage, its been shown over and over and over again that heavies give you higher total damage.

As for the speed thing, the game has gotten so fast that if the damage only affect you with the impact animation, torpedoes would be even more niche than they are already. Mechanically, the attacker fires, makes his to-hit roll, you get a time delay, then you take the damage if he hit or not (except for the destructables). The visual of the torpedo hit is just an animation.

360 weapons are a very new addition, only added last year for antiproton, and only this summer for the other weapon types via the crafting system. They're a special reward, not something standard. Why so special? Cause the devs said so.

Interesting. Thanks. I do still bother with heavy cannons despite what ive been told, but always felt like they were holding me back due to what Ive heard.

It would be nice if non-destructable projectiles acted more like the destructable ones in terms of being able to out-run them. Couldn't they do the hit check if it gets close enough to impact instead? Ive been like 10km away from a torpedo chasing me and got destroyed by it, its just too awkward when it happens.

I also forgot to mention. Thorium infused polaron weapons, is it intended that they not have the polaron weapon system energy drain, or is that just a text error and its really there?
