This is my second thread since the former one was closed down. Kind of funny since even DEVs promised not to close it and let me have a point then it was closed down for no apparent reason.
Anyway...Disturbing trend from those who wish to silence public opinion here in the forums. Yes, I know this is a private company and Cryptic can do whatever they want with your freedom.
At least in some countries like America, there is freedom to speak out if you do so without "insulting" others. Shouldn't that concept hold true still in any business practice since it owes it that much to their customers?
Threads like "I quit" were understood to be deemed "closed". Well I understand but still kind of baseless in their approach to do so. Some of us are not breaking any rules except to just state our opinions.
However, those now deemed to be closed down since "management" does not like the unintended messages?
Can we at least add the list of "incendiary" terms to the forum "rules" since some of us dont know what those terms are. Its NOT posted in your rules. You cannot silence dissent or discord for those of us who disagree with how things are being run here.
The last patch (first on 10/22 and now 11/20) brought up the ugly side of cryptic's business plan and I admit as well some ugly postings but not ALL were that bad. Freedom of speech should not be sanctioned if done in a respectful manner. It sends the wrong signal to your playerbase. Does Cryptic actually need another black eye besides the fiasco from last time?
Not speaking for anyone but myself and the voices who are no longer here due to last 10/22's patch disaster. Are you going to do the same this time around. Enough has been done that a vast number of friends and peers have abandoned this ship. Please don't add more wood to the fire.
Treat folks like human beings not just a mere data NUMBERs.
The XP leveling FIASCO need to be brought up to the forefront. STOP closing threads and pretend this will GO AWAY. Pretending issues will go away and having a business plan that places players as "naive" is not a savvy idea.
Listen to your playerbase and to the forgotten voices of those that already withdrew from this game.
Hope there is some sense in the management of this company.

No. And they do, in fact, 'owe' absolutely nothing at all to their customers. How a business chooses to conduct that business is exactly as important in the US as freedom of speech.
That's what happens when you go all-in on loosely regulated free market capitalism ideology, because Russians bad, Russians equals socialism, socialism bad. Enjoy.
Keep in mind that PWE is actually owned by a company in the PRC, and they really make the decisions, so, it's communists calling the shots, not capitalists.
Oh, and the PRC's policy on dissent is prison or a bullet...
The players who know better will leave, new players who don't know any better will have on idea there is an issue so... it's kind of self-correcting, no?
This is exactly what happens when you take a sub game and make it F2P - you essentially get what you pay for.

I was responding to the America/Western centric 'freedom of speech' dead horse that had to be flogged once again. Besides which, you have to obey the laws of any region you're operating in, so yeah, capitalists are calling the shots.
Also, the modern, contemporary PRC has a 'communism' content roughly on par with a Fortune 500 champagne party.
While I don't necessarily agree with the recent changes on leveling and progression, it's a bit churlish to accuse PWE/Cryptic of suppressing dissident / free speech.
Since I didn't get to read your former post I can't comment on what it was about. Leveling beyond 50 is a painstaking task, I personally don't have the slightest clue how to do it. Ok I lied, I could sit at my computer for 24hs and play and get fired from my job but that would NOT be beneficial to the hard working men and women of our great nation (USA).
With regards to a "free speech issue", what cryptics moderators (non-paid assisstants) do, is up to them. There really is no controlling them. They can delete a post and it's no big deal because they aren't actually stripping your right to free speech, no man nor any legislature can take away your freedom of speech in the USA. And any company that does business in the USA has to play by the USA Constitution and it's laws.
Now I know PWE operates under the basis that only people that support them are allowed to speak. Well, we'll see who's left to speak once the silenced stop paying the server bills.

It's like the giant galaxy improvement thread. It was as far as I know the most viewed and replied to topic on these forums and it was closed without reason.

Dev's don't close threads often if at all, that's usually the forum moderators or the community managers.
There is a limit to one's freedom of speech in a private setting. The first amendment protects you from the government controlling your speech and even then only to a certain extent (IE, yelling fire in a crowed theater, or a court issued gag order.
If cryptic wanted to, they could delete just about anything. For example, when something is leaked early, they will delete any and all references to on the forums. Notable examples include the timeships and risian swim ware.
And the fun part is when you signed up, you agreed to let them do that. It's called the Terms of Service Agreement.
And can we all just put the whole XP fiasco behind us? Those of you still upset are looking less and less sympathetic and more pathetic each time you bring it up.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!

No matter what, but the US first amendment doesn't hold with a private forum held by a Chinese company. I'm pretty sure China doesn't have the first amendment or any equivalent. You know, China, the country with political prisoner. The country where Youtube is forbidden. Just saying.

This isn't a Chinese company, it's an American company owned by a Chinese company. Perfect World and Perfect World Entertainment are not the same thing.

The STO forums are on the same website than all the others PWE games, alongside their own forums.
As you can clearly see in the address bar : sto-forum.perfectworld.com
LOL, for so called overloads ,they do let the forums get away with a lot of stuff if they censord everyone like some of you say the forums would be a ghost down with just edit notes everywhere.

INSULTING the playerbase, BANNING THOSE who SPEAK from the forums and remain SILENT about issues is not a good business practice.
Try shutting this down with a PROPER balance explanation to those who dissent and a meaningful reason WHY.
DO NOT bite on the hand that feeds you or pay your salary...at least PLEASE listen to the playerbase. Its more humble to admit you guys screwed up for the 100th time than to SILENCE others.
