Hey everybody,

Got bored with my Scim so i thought i would give carriers another try. Went back and forth between the JDHC and Narcine all morning and settled on the Narcine. Main turnoff for the JDHC was that you had to own the lockbox version of the JHAS before you can use it as a hangar pet.

So anyways here is my setup...only thing i dont actually have is the fleet warp core which i'll be getting later this afternoon. Until i get it i am just running an exchange core with the same W>E SEP modifier. I might consider a plasma warp core since it was suggested to me in another thread, but i gotta get more info on that.

EDIT: went through several revisions and here is my final build (until i change it again)

http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=stonewbnarcinemod8_0

-doffs: Marion, WCE, DCE, ME, ME

-5 SRO

-one of my enhanced neut is +hull heal. This was from my other ship which didnt need +turn. So far even with just one +turn enh neut the narcine turns pretty quickly. I might just leave the +hull heal.

-enhanced neut again...i also know that these are just XI instead of XII. I was upgrading quite a few things and i didnt have the FC to spare for two XII enh neuts.

-thinking about getting DBB since the turn rate is pretty good. I have an Avenger with DBB and not turn mods and the turn performance between the two ships seems comparable.

-thinking about replacing my regular rom plas BA (or DBBs) with Corrosive Plasma CrtDx3 (but will be expensive)

It's plenty fast enough for DBBs. I run cannons on mine with just one more [turn] Neutronium than you have and it works decently, with points in Pilot Spec to enhance the various tricks to handle big ships with cannons (turreting the entire thing, flipping into reverse, etc.)

On the issue of the consoles being Mk XI, you can upgrade them directly for far less Dil than buying entirely new, pending you use the top-end upgrade kits and boosters. Depending on how much FC you can make out of EC[buying DOFfs, commodities, etc.], it might come to cheaper even compared FC wise. I upgraded a Mk X [Turn] Neutronium to Mk XII to use with my Narcine since I'm low on Fleet Creds (thanks to all the spots to donate Fleet Marks filling up long before I can put many in), and it was surprisingly inexpensive dil wise to do so.

As for Corrosive Plasma, I'd strongly consider mixing the two, as the burn/damage reduction over time seems not quite on par with Rom Plasma, but I think the two procs will stack. Try out a DBB version to mix in.

On the WCE you're using, is it the Subsystem Power variant or the Debuff cleanse variant? If the former, I'd drop it for another DCE to get more up-time on your EPt abilities.

I'm a bit surprised that you're running only one Tac Team, but no Conn officers to reduce it's cooldown.

Yah the one TT is pretty much just my oh s**t CD, even more so then it normally is. I have the spec that raises resistance when a shield facing goes down. The ship is also manueverable enough to where i can rotate facings when TT is on CD. And i also have Rock and Roll and EPTS with its shield hardening. When i start to do harder content that might require better shield facing management i can just pick up another TT1, drop APB1 and put BFAW2 in its place.

-WCE is the ship power one

-Corrosive Plasma, my main reason for wanting 4 of them to replace the 4 regular rom plas is so i can have 3 mods on them. Since Rom plas gives up 1 mod for the disruptor-type proc. But you can just imagine how hard it will be to get those in CrtD x3. And if they do become available you know what the price is gonna look like. I might just settle for regular plasma BA CrtD x3 too. If i do that i would have to rely on the one experimental rom plas BA for the hull breach debuff, which means really low uptime on it probably.

Just hit 60 and of course i have all space traits slotted as well as 1 R&D trait. I decided to look for the first time at the traits on the exchange and i bought the Wing Commander space trait. And rofl with WC trait and the tier 1 ship mastery my pets level to 5 stars super fast. I'm also up to 3 fleet tac consoles...gonna buy my two Elite Mobulai next. So far this ship is lots of fun, probably more fun then my Scim.

If only I/we can convince the devs to do something about the hangar pets. Right now my only complaint with them is they dont always dock when i tell them to. I have to move at a slight crawl to make sure they all dock when i tell them to. Either they need to increase their speed so they can keep up with us at full impulse or they need to increase the docking range. It seems like maybe the big hitbox of the Narcine might be causing issues with ships docking when you are at a standstill.

Another fun aspect of the Narcine as a romulan is a wonderful bug i hope they never fix.
if you have either the Faeht or Aelahl traits (or both, unsure, could also be something else but i started seeing it after i leveled those ships) slotted. the mobulai fighters will trigger something which cause t'liss warbirds to spawn. And sometimes, you get quite a few...

Do they cloak? Seems like it could be a confused Warp Shadow proc.

The only things that could 'give me an idea' with that build i've already done or are out of my price range. CrtDx3 AP would be nice but price and availability is a problem. It's obvious i'm trying to stack CrtD but there's nothing i can do if i cant afford the gear. In case you didnt look at my build link i already have the same exact tac layout which i came up with on my own. Eng and Sci are also identical except for 2 abilities that are self heals. Parti Man trait and TBR would squeeze a little more dps out of the build. But i'm pretty much an LFG Commando so i cant always rely on other players for heals. And i cant always rely on other players to be able to put out enough dps to where I/we wont need heals.

As far as engines and deflectors go i've actually though about getting ones with offensive stats (even a tiny bit). But since self heals is something i want, that is why i havent immediately swapped out my assim deflectors and engines for pieces with more offensive stats. Its something that i'm going to have to keep looking at. If i am doing content and it seems like the minor healing from the assim 2pc isnt needed i may swap them out for offensive pieces.

Everything else on his build that he relies on for healing and resists is either too expensive or just plain not accessible for me. A doff that is available only with the DR pack. Starship traits that are attached to T6 ships, and the only one i have right now is the Faeht. So each of those Starship Traits, even if i thought it was really good and something i wanted, will cost me 3000 zen each or 16000 zen (i dont think i will make the sale) if i decide to buy the whole pack for myself.

I don't have the ship. I also tend to build towards tanky PvE setups. How I'd build it, is not the way sarcasmdetector does, and it might not work well for you to acheive the DPS you might want.
It's all about beam arrays, EPTW3 and BFAW3, a very lethal combination these days when done right.

    Here goes....

    LCDR Uni ET1, EPTS2, EPTW3
    CDR Tac TT1, APB1, BFAW3, APB3
    ENS Tac TT1
    LT Eng ET1, RSP1
    LT Sci HE1, HE2

    You'd need the following DOFFs......
2-3 Energy Weapon Officers to reduce cooldowns for beam special attacks
3 Purple Damage Control Engineers to reduce cooldowns on EPTx abilities

As far as the gear goes, drop the torp, it's a DPS loss, so replace it with another beam array.
That should be an easy enough thing to switch to and see if it helps. It might not help, but it's something I hope helps.

    1) I dont have a torp launcher so not sure how you are seeing that...i already have 5 BA, KCB and an omni plasma array. I took a hit in CrtD for that omni plas, but it gives me slightly more forward firepower for when i have to turn.

    2) your proposed build is a little too tanky/heal heavy for my tastes. It pretty much gets rid of my x2 DEM1 and Marion doff. I know i talked a bit about wanting some self heals, but i dont want *that* many self heals.

Sorry about that, I was trying to reply and stay awake at the same time.....I had commented on a few different builds leading up to my comment here and I must have mixed it up with another build I was looking at. So, I apologize for falling asleep at the keyboard....

As for tanky, unfortunately, I tend to grab aggro in a lot of the STFs, so I tend to want the heals. Fortunately, you can always find a way to reduce the tankiness and increase damage output, like using DEM.

I am digging your build for the most part. A couple of questions.

    1. Why are you running regular plasma instead of Romulan Plasma? (Procs?)

    2. Why are you not running Aux to Bat? Seams like running Aux to Batt would be easier unless you don't want low aux power to affect your pets.

    3. Why are you running Spire Exploiters versus Spire Locater Tac Consoles. I would definitely run the crit calculator on your build. (Maybe the SROs give you enough Crt H that you need more CRT D.)

    4. I am not sure if the plasma omni directional beam that you crafted is doing much for you. May want to parse that out and see if putting a beam array back their makes more difference.

    5. What Traits are you running. I would definitely look at Wingcommander if you are running a carrier.

Ok, I found your traits and you do have Wing Commander. Some other traits to look at:

Inspirational Leader and Fluid Cocoon Traits.

Also, I am thinking your Crt D is too high and your Crt H is not high enough. I would keep the Crt Dx3 weapons and look at spire locaters. But again, I would run the calculator to make certain that I am not talking out of my rear end.

    1) switched to regular plas for the CrtD x3. Using those until i can gradually switch them out to Corrosive Plasma CrtD x3. I actually didnt have the Rom-Plas Crtdx2 either, a long time ago i ended up buying accx2 for i dont know what reason. I was gonna switch them out, but when i got the narcine i was a bit short on dil.

    2) A2B will make it tricky to run Marion. Unless i do DEM in the LCdr slot, EPTW1 and EPTS1 or ET1. And no aux will also end up affecting my hangar recharge times slightly as well as my HE heals.

    3) My stats are 26.1% acc, 17.4% crtH, 152.4% critD. I still have one free tac slot for a fleet console i am saving up for and i also dropped the 4% crit trait a while back. If i need more crit about the only thing i'll do is put in that trait again and maybe 1 tac console. My regular stats are close to 1:10 but factoring in weapon crtD it isnt. I'm not too worried about being precise when going for the 1:10 ratio.

    4) the 360 omni plas was in case i decided to switch out to DBB.

I was actually thinking about picking up a phantom next so i can get the Reciprocity trait to substitute for A2B.

The T6 ship Traits are unlocked per char, not per account. You can't have Reciprocity trait on a Rom unless they change things.

Ohh nvm i was thinking about my Fed toon that i'm also building up, they are the one i'm getting Reciprocity for. Actually scratch that...after this Rom i think i may take a break on my Fed :P

Your Answers Make Sense. A one thing through.

Corrosive Plasma versus Romulan Plasma. This is just one guy's parse so it may not be valid but it shows that Romulan Plasma is still king. You may want to parse your ACCx2 Romulan Plasma versus the Corrosive to see if you get same results. I would be interested in seeing you data to shed more light on this issue. Source:

    http://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/comments/2jhwni/corrosive_vs_romulan_better_plasma/

I have been looking at the upgrade path on my Romulan Plasmas because I did purchase the Crtdx2 versions and upgraded them to XIV. If you can get them to very rare then you get a random proc to x3. I am wondering if it is truly random or if you get CrtDx3 every time. I am interested if anyone knows because if the parse comes out that Romulan Plasma is still stronger than Corosive and if you have a reasonable chance to get Romulan Plasma CrtDx3 after the upgrade it may make sense for me to invest the resources to get my weapons to very rare at least. (I would be extremely angry if I get the things to upgrade and get stuck with a DMGx3 mod for example.)

Also, I have been droning on about the crit calculator. The link is here:

    http://comatoes.github.io/sto-crit-calc/

This will show the numbers behind why locaters are better than exploiters.

I probably wouldnt be a good candidate for comparison testing. In the past in WoW i have used damage meters, and this one site that our guild would upload parses to so we could all study fights. But i've gotten reaaaaaaally lazy since then. I havent even bothered to install a damage meter here. Sometimes i might get lucky and someone will link meters but thats very rare. Is installing a damage meter here as easy as it is in WoW with installing stuff like Skada and stuff? download, unpack, put it in the addon folder, and set it up in game and bam finished.

In regards to my build i'm pretty much done with it i think so i went ahead and updated the link in my first post. A lot of long term stuff has to be done like starship traits from specialization trees and inspirational leader. I picked up fluidic coccoon since i had a singularity trait still so i got rid of that. I tweaked a few other minor things too like replaced my EPTS with EPTW, not quite sure how i feel about that yet. I got my last fleet tac console and i got a locator and i will swap out the other vulnerability whenever i get around to it. Deflectors, Engines and Shields i'm still not sure if i want to swap them out for pure dps pieces or stay with what i have which are mostly survivability pieces. I'm not in a rush to swap them out since i'm still in XII. I'm still hesitant to upgrade anything because of all the glitchy stuff i've heard about the upgrade system.

Last I checked, nothing quite so simple for STO DPS tracking.

I would go with EPtS1 and EPtW3, and then run 3x DCEs to basically have both at or near global cooldown (usually global unless you have really bas luck). Drop the WCE and save up for the 6th active DOff slot from your fleet to fit the extra DCEs in. You might be able to get by with 2x purple DCEs until you get the 6th slot.
