all said^^

crafting system nice, numbers are crazy

especially rep gear

it feels like its designed for a player with 10 chars all played as much as i play my main 2 chars and all focus on upgrading one char, then its MAYBE doable to get the char to full epic in a year or so^^

i just spend 50 upgrade kits worth 40mio ec if sold and 50k dil on increasing the upgrade chance of my dyson 14 rifle from zero to 28% yay that really makes me happy and all

and I'm quite sure others have even more horrible storys to tell

pls multiply all upgrade chances for rep gear by a like 5 or something othwise its just not worth spending time and ressources on imo

The RNG hates you. Maybe you should craft your own upgrades.

While I share your pain - dropped 8M ECs to max the chance of raising quality on a Polarized Disruptor DHC last night - this is the nature of the beast; it is random. The day before, I had my Solanae Secondary Deflector go from rare to UR while going from Mk XII to Mk XIV. My KDF tac now has 3 gold-quality spire tac consoles, each on just going from XII to XIV. Sometimes you get lucky.

Personal view? Going for Gold is only a viable activity if you start at Mk II, and is therefore only really viable for weapons (where the crafted/upgraded stuff is as good as, or better than, the fleet gear). Otherwise the whole rarity upgrade thing is meant to be a bottomless Dil sink and frankly is not needed for 99% of the game (the 1% being high-level PVP). Save yourself the heartache and don't worry about quality upgrades.

Upgrades are a TRIBBLE shoot, but the do eventually work.

If you want to see just HOW expensive it's going to be - check out this infographic:

All the kits where self-crafted... I just meant that the value of those kits would have been 40mil when I used them.

And most items habe reasonable cost - just rep items go above and beyond. I do like the upgrade system itself i just think its numbers should be slightly ajusted when it comes to rarety upgrades. The mentioned 50 kits were one day of heavy farming so i can afford doing it again and again. i just wonder how joe normal is gonna do that.

While I do understand an interest by cryptic to make ppl spend zen and stuff to make it go faster this is just over the top. I mean i have 13 chars. Currently i would have to farm dil on 6 chars to make dil ends meet and thats not talking mats and stuff. How do ppl even do it that cant farm ground as i do?

Its not Cryptics fault that you see a neccessity where there is non. Still that quality upgrade was their biggest mistake with the revamp.

heh alts are a 2 edged sword. With a bunch we can indeed make the dil to upgrade one main faster, but if we want to upgrade them all .... or even just one of each type (tac, sci, eng) its going to be costly.

The nice thing about alts is that some items can be shared.. I have been working on a set of AP DBB XIV that all of my alts can use (account bound). Still, every rep or fleet item is unique and has to be upgrded one by one.

Epic gear is epic. You are not supposed to run a full gold ship after 1 week of playing. Its a long term goal, and probably not really a valid goal. I am certainly not going to try to get 800 items on 10 alts to turn gold. The one gold I have was an accident ... my main sci's fleet shield ... lucky me. I MAY make the shared weapons gold over time, eventually. But the heck with the char-bound items.
