DEVS - A simple Solution to fix Delta Rising

psychoplattpsychoplatt Member Posts: 285 Arc User
Hi Devs,

it is so simple to test what the "best Launch ever" is worth. Give us another Server with Season 9in its last apperance and see where the Players move there chars, i call it 3 weeks and u can shut down holodeck, cause it is not worth to Keep it up for 100 Players.

There is NO fun anymore in this game, bugs here or there, regardless, Delta rising is an epic fail.
nice u wasted so much time in your sig - i do not see it anyway :)

I think it would be the other way around. Probably a few pvpers would hang out on the pre-DR server while the rest would be on Holodeck.

For every 1 person on these forums that complain there is 50 people on game playing and having fun. Those 50 usually come here to the forums if they have a question or looking for an answer to something and aren't posting much.

Actually sto is fun right now... BUT

    1. Dilithium problem
    2. Upgrade cost (problem 1 and 2 are also a multi char problem.. big problem)
    3. New powers + power creep = pvp demands changes (maybe even pve needs some kind of change/cap to fight the power creep.
    4. Bugs
    5. non stf elite reward + general xp reward

This one line made me laugh so danged hard. I'm gonna add it to my signature. Thanks a lot for posting that line!

    As for OP.

    Yeah no.
    That'll be all.

On the most serious note, all that needs to be looked into again is the leveling process: rebalance the episode story arc to reflect leveling up from 1-60 with the exact amount of XP needed.

Well you can count me in that "100", I didn't spend weeks grinding D to buy the DR pack just to see some twit demand it get taken away because he's bored...
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
    What's my position?

Mirror Event is fun ... in a grindy sort of way. What's there to look forward to ... another super grind Winter event? Another grind-a-versery ... fleet ships ... Tier 6 holdings ...

    W-What? Two possibilities:

-You are coincidentally going to instances with small amounts of people (Happens to my betazoid. y?)
-You aren't that invested in the game.

Considering you only doff, the latter should be the cause. Have you seen the amount of people in the Quenes?

Also, would you like another 40gbs in your computer if you start another server? Plus, if they revert back to Season 9 and not 9.5, it would be bugs galore!
Last time someone attempted this (not in sto) the game was shut down due to limited accessibility to the 2nd server. It was another MMORPG.

I'd say it's more of an epic /facepalm than an epic fail. That they're tweaking things here, fixing things there, and so forth keeps it out of the epic fail category...but there's just so many things they need to tweak and to fix it definitely falls into the epic /facepalm category.

Bug Hunt isn't some Ground PVE queue...
...it's what happens as soon as you launch the game...
...only you're not hunting the bugs, they're hunting you.

Because levelling up is easy in this game. Finding out what to do post DR is not.

    Hmmmm...

Question: What is your definition of "Fun?" I only ask because...

    - There are still missions to run, a new one released today in fact, which are "fun."

    - There are still a ton of character customization options to played with, which is "fun."

    - There is still a plethora of ships from different faction with different abilities and powers to explore and test, which is "fun."

    - There is still a new rep system to rise in and get rewards for, which is "fun."

    - There is a Mirror Invasion event currently going on where you can blow up enemy ships for a reward of a decent dil reward and a shotgun, which is "fun."

    - There are still STFs to run. Granted they have been tweaked a bit but there are probably a few that can be played and not be overtaxing, which is "fun."

    - There are still battlegrounds to run around in and blow things up, which is "fun."

    - There are still players around to talk to and role-play with, which is "fun."

    - There are still multiple storylines going on which one can follow and explore, which is "fun."

    - There is still Foundry where you can make up your own missions and events, which is "fun."

I realize the above list is not all inclusive, but given that myself and no doubt others have been doing all of them and haven't run into any game breaking issues I'd just like to have some clarification as to exactly what your definition of "fun" is and why DR seems to have killed it so badly for you.

The only thing that's fun is having the best gear and the best sets on the best ship.

Everything else is not fun, hence it's "grind", even if it eventually gets you the best gear and the best sets or the best ship.
Especially if you're a casual player. Then this is the only way you can exist.

That is the impression that I sometimes get. It's most likely not true, because it's obviously irrational and a hyperbolic interpretation of complains.
I suppose in the end it's just the problem every game has with level cap increases. People complain that the stuff they gathered is now obsolete, and that they must regain the new tier of gear. But still, MMOs - not just F2P games - do level cap increases. Why? Because these games depend on people playing them. They are not "sell once, never pay again" games. They require people to be willing to subscribe or do micro-transactions, and people that have everything don't need to subscribe or do micro-transactions.

If you don't like that - beg for more single palyer games. I would love a single player Startrek game. But... we'll probably never find one that will have the depth of customziation options as Startrek Online, because it wouldn't be worth it.
I think it would be the other way around. Probably a few pvpers would hang out on the pre-DR server while the rest would be on Holodeck.
I think PvPers would even prefer the Season 1.2 or Season 2 server. At least something before lockboxes and universal consoles and Fleet Retrofits and Fleet Shields. It was bascially all going downhill once that started (which might imply there was some kind of "hill" to stand on at some point, but that might be saying too much. "Down the Earth Heap" might be the term).

Delta Rising certainly made that worse. There are basically 60 new levels to grind if you want to be sure endgame PvP is remotely "balanced", and these 60 new levels will take a lot longer than the preceeding 50 levels.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.

I always speak for myself in my posts; they are my posts after all. :)

But quiet frankly… all toons are level 60 (3 missing but will be once finished doffing on Sunday)… all ship upgrades made… all new episodes seen…all toons have enough marks to fill latest reput… I sit on a million Dil with no idea what to do with it which would make sense.

If grab a buddy of mine and look up a cool queue for plain and simple fun like I always did on such a state the past years all I see now is emptiness.

I think I agree with the OP.

Here is a great one liner to the devs, hand the game over to modders they could fix it faster and better and it would function like it is suppose to. Opps did i just insult the devs? Oh yes i did, because what i am saying is a FACT.

While it is not the most successful ever, it has its successful merits. Ouside of the bugs, the only thing I would like to see is Advanced STFs completeable without the optional and make it additional APCs/BNPS upon completetion. Then add an APC/BNP upon the optional completion of the normal. That would alleviate getting APCs and BNP problem even though APCs are to a lesser extent.

    Normal+Optional = BNP/APC
    Advanced = BNP/APC
    Advanced + Optional = 2x APC/BNP
Elite = Keep as is make 3 or 4 the reward.
