well, the other day when cryptic "finally" fixed the connection issue problem, I for the first time in months was actually able to open the game in tridef, and play in 3d.. two whole days of sto in 3d. but now I see the problem is back, as it keeps crashing in 3d and giving me the same error codes as was reported by all with the data loss bug..

oh well. im glad I spent the extra money on tridef and a 3d monitor, and a graphics card to make both coexist..

(ps, before the white nights hop in and try to say its my comp.. its not, I can literally play every other game I have on max setting, in tridef (3d)... there is oodles of problems being reported everywhere on cryptic games not supporting 3d (or really most of the good video cards out there).

peeps are having the same problems in never winter as well. yay for fail engines..

/end rant.. I feel much better now.

How is 3D nowadays? Back in my day it was blue and red goggles that hurt your eyes. :D

lol.. much better now. depending on what you get.. I use passive 3d, as its not nearly as expensive, and is much better for your eyes than active (avtive has like 700 doller glasses that have shutters in them, and they open and close like so many hundreds of times a minute.. not really fond of that for my eyes..)

passive looks like a regular pair of glasses, one lense is polarized differently from the other, so they both pick up different lines on the screen.

I can play for hours without even knowing they are on. (ie, not hurting). though if im tired I do notice it).. but been using it for a few years, and when I went to get my contact prescription renewed, they said everything looked good.

so ill just say technology has come a long way.. hehehe..

And in a few years, 3D monitors without glasses might happen. It is a matter of extremely limited viewing angles and already used by the 3DS. So it should be relatively easy to get a computer monitor that uses the same technology, but it might never reach the point where it can be used in theatres or the living room.

to cryptic credit (which I don't do all that often) this game looks smexy in 3d.. the modeling is awesome.. the color is awesome, its an overall awesome 3d experience (when it works, which is next to never lately)..

but they do a lot of stuff right.. like shadows, and couldiness weather its nebula material, clouds, or fog).. a lot of games this doesn't transfer through.. but sto has an outright awesome look to some of these harder to 3d texture models, and items..

again, it would be nice if I could run it stable on my pc for a change.

p.s. usually if 3d isn't working, I can play in 2d just fine.. on the tridef forums, it has been hinted that most of the problems seem to be with cryptics codeing, and the adherent lack of support for anything that isn't NVidia based.
