Pestilant bugs

glorthoxglorthox Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I do bug hunt elite a lot. I have made everything through tier 4, if that tells you how much. And the one thing that remains constant is pestilant bugs are hitting entirely way too hard. They bypass shields and then hit me twice and kill me. There is nothing to resist them. I have tried Psionic resist and it didn't resist nothing. Ravager's and Delvers I can handle, same thing with the queen and spawnmother. But pestilant bugs you cannot resist. And when they hold you, bypass shields, and then two shot you in less than 2 seconds. That seems a bit much. Delta gear is TRIBBLE against them, tried counter command, same thing, tried nukara, same. So the only thing left is to spend 200 lobi on the undine battle armor. But I am worried that it won't help and a then blew all them lobi on a limp noodle. I understand elite is suppose to be hard, but those bugs are a bit extreme, when there is nothing to strive for to be better in stfs.

And after all that, just about 10 minutes ago, one of the alarm bugs glitched behind a wall and made the group fail the stf.

There is something that can resist them. They deal toxic damage so you need to have toxic res.

I keep hearing that they are toxic and psionic. I just don't want to waste lobi on the undine battle armor only for it to be junk against them.

Protip: Crouch. You still get nuked into oblivion but you have more time to use a defensive ability or heal.

Sorry if this comes across as patronising , but you are using the "Peak Health" Trait aren't you?

Helps me a lot with those bugs

Those pesky bugs hate a Ultra Rare Mk XIV Tr116-B with all the TAC Specializations and a Mk XIV Purple Tactical Weapons Kit with a fistful of ground traits. If you can get a group to do the mission right [meaning slow down and kill Alarm Bugs] You can sniper those bugs and expose them usually 2-3 shots will give you a critical hit and they die. The key is to have a good mix of engineers and tactical officers and at least one medic.

Personally I use the stealth module to gain flank on them before we open fire so I can get the max chance to vaporize them with the first shot. NOTE** I spent my whole specialization on ground abilities.

The counter command set provides very good toxic resist and otherwise an environmental suit would give sufficient resists.

In the mission "Surface Tension," you can get a trait that helps resist and remove Toxic damage: Fluidic Antigens. It's easy and free.

You stack this with the counter command 4 piece set bonus and (if you rolled an alien) all the toxic resist traits there, and you'll survive fine.

I run BHE with MACO gear. The shield heal can really help. Before I picked up the Compression Phaser Rifle Mk XII and that seems to drop them much quicker than using my battle rifle.

You mentioned using psionic resists, have you tried the Phase-Shifted Personal Shield from the mission “Skirmish”?

Ok got the Undine biotech battle armor and using 3 of the 4 pc of the counter command set. With the Ultra rare TR-116b. Went to elite bug hunt and tried it again. The pestilant bugs still bypassed my shields and hit me twice and I died. I have 50% physical and kinetic resist, same with toxic and psionic. So is this just a "bug" in the game or what? I watched the dmg, my shields stayed full, and the bug hit me twice for 400+ dmg each and killed me. Out of all the elites, bug hunt, seems to be at times, very unfair. I run stf queues, very rare with fleet. I have tried just about ever kind of set up and it all seems to be lacking to a degree. i see science and engineers not have a problem, but my tact always seems to be targeted way before anyone else.

Im honestly not great on the ground, but do okay. Im a sci captain.
I found by equipping the maco set, my survivability goes up big time, that being said, Im still constantly cycling through my heals, and dmg resist skills. No matter what, they hit hard, you just have to stay ahead of the dmg. And be ready to stop shooting every few seconds to get off a heal.
As for engi's and tacs, I've not tried them in BHE.

Thats the problem with the pestilant bugs. I have about 2 seconds to do something or die. And I have seen something happen a bunch of times now. When i hit a Hypo, it doesn't go off. Its like those bugs have a one shot kill or something.

I also tend to strafe back and forth while shooting to keep the little critters off me, and avoid the toxic bombs. And I always have a nice supply of Large Hypos at the ready. (for when my skills are on cooldown)

Yeah sometimes you gotta click the hypo a few times before it engages :/
That does get me killed from time to time.
It takes a second or 2 from your last shot, to be able to engage a hypo, try to anticipate when you'll need the heal, and stop shooting asap. Its not much consolation I suppose theyre still a tough enemy.

Never had any probs with them, even while taking a lot of heat with adapted maco 2pc. You just have to be wary and move around, then you wont have much probs.

More details please. What are your ground skill point investments like, what ground traits are you using (both personal and reputation), do you have injuries, what is the exact gear you are using (including both weapons, shield, armor, kit frame, kit modules), are you crouching and aiming, what species is your character?

Something isn't right; they shouldn't be killing you off that fast.

as mentioned previously use peak health and other traits that give tox res... also look at your ground rep traits too. crystaline nanofibres and the trait that increases your res the lower your health.

once i slotted those i stopped dying...
