It drives me crazy when I see various NPCs running around in STO wearing a uniform top with the pants and boots from the Omega Force Armor.
Why can't the players make cool outfits like that for our toons?
I understand clipping can be a problem when combining various outfit pieces that weren't originally designed to go together, but I think most of us would rather have the extra options (even with clipping) than be forced to pick either uniforms or armor.
Please, let us mix and match all the outfit/armor pieces that we have unlocked on our characters.

Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.
The current uniform option is already creative. People wearing all sort of fancy stuff and there is hardly anything "uni" in our uniforms.
The tailor system in MMOs has always been about playing "dress up" with your characters.
The idea of players in STO wearing "uniforms" pretty much went out the window back in the old days when the devs released off-duty clothing ... including Barbie-style party dresses and suits for Ken dolls.
The bottom line is that if the assets are in the game then players should be able to use them.

I can definitely support unlocking rank insignia instead of binding it to specific uniforms. I almost never get to use my favorite rank insignia in the game - the Mirror 2151 epaulets and wrist stripes - because they're locked to the Mirror Enterprise uniform and I don't always want to wear a top with an integreted chest strap or bared midriff...
I know that in some cases there's layout problems - the Mirror Enterprise insignia is epaulets on the shoulders, the WoK insignia is a pin on the white strap on the right side of the chest, the TNG/DS9/Voy pips are on the collar, etc. - and that would need to be taken into account, but I still believe it to be an idea worth considering.
