When are we going to see reputation ground gear that is actually useful in newer content? Delta ground set feels more borg oriented instead of bug. I have read through all the rep tier gear, both ground and space. And it makes no sense. Why can't there be a set that is useful in whatever ground stf? Elite fleet gear just sucks in these new difficulty elite settings. But when i look at the ground sets, nothing looks like it would work correctly. I look at Bug Hunt Elite and I ask myself, what set should I use in order to survive. People have said to use Undine, but if that is the case, then what is the point in the delta ground gear? Every Bug Hunt, I have had my shields one shotted just by almost everything in there, and my shield is a respectable 465. Dropped my elite fleet armor and tried Mako armor. Still one shotted with ease.
So I am trying to understand why the new ground gear is really no help in any of the Elites I have gone through. I usually run, Rhillo, undine infil, nukara tacts, and bug hunt on elite. And no matter the upgrade, my shields are usually one shotted. But if you read the delta shield, it has a 50% shield drain resist. But honestly I have yet to see them resist anything. I am just hoping to see something useful, instead of something that is just cosmetic.
The shield drain resist is just that -- shield DRAIN resist. Shield damage is not shield drain. Things like Tachyon Harmonic for example.
What is your career? Tacs shouldn't care about shields, they will get one-shot regardless of the shield you choose. Dyson Shield can give you a little edge there with its full replenish proc once a minute, but that will only be a little mitigation. Scis don't care about shields at all, since they excel in armor tanking, although Medical Vanguard will help a bit in shield tanking.
Now if you're an Engineer and getting shields one-shot you're not using your shield tanking capabilities right.
Undine armor is good in Bug Hunt because of its toxic resists. Aside from the Pestilent's psi damage (which I think is toxic too but can't confirm) and minor melee damage from the bugs, everything else is toxic. With traits and skills you can get 50% toxic resist with that armor, along with everything else. Hardly any armor gets close in terms of overall benefits. As for a shield, a while ago I was advised to use the Shattering Harmonics shield from the Nukara reputation for its dodge bonus, and it works very well. When you upgrade it, you get +40% dodge on the shield alone. Then you crouch for +50%, and the remaining 10% will be provided by Intelligence Officer primary (spec trees). There, 100% dodge and half incoming damage mitigated on top of your shield/armor resists. AFAIK, it's the best mitigation you can get regardless of career. You can then swap armor, weapons and kits around depending on the STF you're playing -- just keep the shield for the 100% dodge and you will do fine in most content.
