Check out our latest interview with Ethan Phillips, playing the lovable Neelix here.
Very interesting...you know, what he's saying about the difference between performing where you memorize your lines, and when you don't...I wonder if that's what's tripping up some of the other voice actors I have heard on STO. Of everyone though, he understood how to really bring a personality to the lines anyway and to recognize the limitation and continue to try to immerse, act physically as well as vocally, and bring realism to it. Some of the actors do get it but I think every actor that is thinking about being on STO should take notes on this and make their acting what he did: so real that you almost can't distinguish between an interview like this and the role in the game in terms of that feeling that a real person is speaking and is right in the next room from you.

i see u won't or u can't provide transcripts... yet? ... transcipts for non-english people of short interviews may could help pr-like? but i'm not a pro u know...
Also, Jeri Ryan is SO much better than her character...
Almost exactly what I was going to say. At first I thought it was her. Then I saw her on Boston Public and realized I had been *completely* wrong and she was actually really good.
I was disappointed to see so little progression to humanity in Seven, and so little increased range and dynamic there. A real opportunity was missed there.

Well said, exactly what I was going to say.
nice interview -- she sounded like she wanted more questions
I know, she's cute, and I am being absolutely serious when I say I mean that completely in the personality sense. You could really feel a sunbeam of a smile coming through.
That's the ray of light I would have LIKED to see in Annika Hansen...who, if I recall from the Path to 2409 notes, should have given up being called "Seven" and gone more towards humanity. Bit of a canon goof on Cryptic's part if anyone else can corroborate me on that.

Picardo is great. He actually seems better in person than even all his roles. It's just such a pity he comes off sorta too affectionate in the Voice overs. Maybe it's just me and my mental image of the Doctor (and the IOA representative Richard Woolsey), but he seems to be trying too hard for his voice to play, and that ends up out of character for the Doctor.
And lol at that 'back pain' and 'seat of power'. :P

Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
No love for Garrett Wang? Trendy, you just forget or is there no interview?
she did sound like she was having a good time.. but then again, she IS an actor
Well, when two of the interviews are only 3 mins long and the other two are 7 and 10 minutes long, it does say something (though maybe they were time constrained at the end of a long recording day). In fairness to Tim Russ though, he has done a lot of PR stuff already for the game.

Unless I'm mistaken, they all had - and answered to - the same questions.
The difference in time seemed to mainly be caused by A) pace of speaking (Jeri Ryan was a fast talker there), succint and short answers vs. longer thoughtful tirades (or in case of Ethan Phillips: trying to best describe and illustrate his point).

And seeing that short tidbit at the beginning, it seems Garret Wang was also trying to act not only with his voice (same as what Phillips describes he has to do even on voiceovers).
