Sometime after hell freezes over. That's the short version.

I really hope you're not holding your breath until the Roms are a separate faction altogether.

Well, I think he got the sad message - on the other hand, we could of course start a contest who finds new good descriptions when it will happen...

The Romulans will remain in their status quo as not full faction as long as the grass grow and the rivers flow...or something like this.:(:D

Being our own faction is not enough. Being part of RSE, with headquarters on Rator and not on Dewa III would be something.

I'm very happy with how the Romulans were handled. It eliminated most of the problems of adding a third faction, kept the player base together, and players even benefit by having access to their ally's ships and doff assignments in addition to their own. Getting to double dip when you already have the best toys.

About the only thing they're missing is their own academy, commendation doffs, and security officers. All minor things, really -- I'm actually happy I can do most of the academy nonsense in command rather than having to load a different map.

I have to agree with the this. The only thing I would change about the romulan faction is I would make it easier to get republic boffs.
It's not my fault if you feel trolled by my Disco ball... Sorry'boutit.

The "keeping the playerbase together" thing, is a good argument when there is no population to speak of. It is ultimately a smoke screen for not allowing games to have factions at all, so that everyone can share everything, and thus you can create half of what you need, for double the number of players. Very efficient, isn't it! Lately we have learned how little content we all can share effectively, the ultimate consequence of this philosophy! :P

Actually, I'd love it if they broke down the faction walls almost entirely and left them only in place for races. ships, and story. I want to team normally with my friends playing Federation characters when I'm playing KDF and queue for some missions together, without needing a full 5 for a private match! I mean, the queues will even prevent mixed faction teams (which can already happen when a team doesn't get disbanded after a match) from queuing for missions that aren't cross faction, everything needed to make this work is in place already.

We have an armistice to justify it from a story perspective and it could only benefit players, make this happen already.

Good to know there is some kind of story somewhere. Even if it is used in a tertiary capacity, and only in order to allow anyone to do anything to everyone everywhere, regardless of context, setting, and universe.

It will never happen because of Starbases

Romulan players have KDF and FED starbase goodies depending on their alignment so romulans are forever tied to there chosen faction
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

i have to say i dont like the idea but if they did it ok would jsut give me more chances to kill unsuspecting feds. as it is now i will do hive and save up alpha strikes when fighting the queen so when she casts confuse and i finally get to fire on the feddy bear i can let lose and kill them. then say opps the queen did it not me. LOL

all this would do is lead more feds into cry baby mode and have the kdf nerfed even more.

way back when. i had raiding party when i meant something. i would enter fed space . then enter the Klingon encounters there. now i could not attack the feds there killing my fellow Warriors but i could heal and buff those NPC klingons since they were allies. it was so much fun healing those little bops allowing them to destroy the feds there. then one day we cant enter the encounters anylonger. leaving our fellow warriors locked in an eternal struggle against a stronger foe with no chance of support from the home world.

basically im not griefing any player at all but i hate the federation and even friends in game i refuse to talk to when they are playing fed toons. but if and when all missions go mixed ill take any chance i can to cause the death of and or kill a federation ship myself.

these mixed ques is why i stopped playing Qued pvp. and why vanilla pvp didn't work for me.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days. Ch'ar%20POST%20LoR.JPG

I'm the rare kind of player that played Romulan because they were.... Romulan, and not for double dipping or OP space traits/ship/whatever. Just like I played Klingons because they were Klingons, and not for the contrabands or the half naked orions.

So, no, I'm not happy. Double dipping is a bad excuse for a half finished faction, sorry, fraction. It's like "sorry we never finished your faction because we found another money grab, so take this double dipping and be happy"

Having access to ally's ship was also a bad idea, but a necessity. There was not enough ships for the faction, so they allowed that.

I would give up all those advantages for a complete faction right away. As I said, I wanted to play Romulan because they were Romulan, not for gameplay purpose. Unfortunately, I'm probably one of the very few who want that.

I think there's more of us than you think... the rub is defining 'romulan' see all the blow ups involving protogoth for examples of why thats a pain

Yup, to that all I agree (well, beside that with the pain, this seems a hard word...;))

Of course it is also a question how you see yourself - but I guess even the most players who played a Romulan did not so only because of Superior Operatives or superior cloaked ships, but because it were ROMULAN ships and toons. If they are lucky what Romulan mean in STO at least for now - well THAT is of course a HUGE question...:D
