Seriously, unless this packet loss problem extends beyond the weekend, people are only missing out on one day to get the item for the event. One day won't hurt, unless you've just not been logging on for at least twenty minutes a day. But that's not Cryptic's fault.
Yes downtime stinks, and I had an entire day open to play, especially finishing up the mark grinds for a few rep item projects I have been letting sit idle. But it's not made me rage or feel entitled.
They make a wondrous mess of things. Brave amateurs, they do their part.
And extending it for a day would be so terrible, because.... ?
Because it would make the people who do finish it feel less special - or, at least, those of them who have to take things away from others to feel special.
In case it's not obvious, I deeply disagree with the OP.
so essentially you're saying that it's always the players fault no matter what? i've seen some serious BS on the forums but your post takes one of the top prizes.
or you posted it to troll because i find it kind of hard to believe that such a...pakled could type such drivel without drooling all over their keyboard much less be able to use a PC at all.

If he didn't rage against the theoretical possibility that Cryptic may throw a bone to players in cases where unexpected connectivity issues effected a large segment of the player base then people may falsely get the idea that he's not a incredibly large putrid ******* and you might accidentally associate yourself with him.
My point was, why must everybody feel so entitled, when so far it has been less than one day of crappy uptime? If it goes past the weekend, sure I could see adding a few more days to make up for it, but a few HOURS?

don't use the word unless you know what it means. if you don't pay any money to the game at all AND don't buy zen on the exchange AND buy nothing from auction nor post anything THEN you could be considered entitled asking for for more when you give nothing.
else if you do spend money, if you do buy zen off the exchange...if you DO contribute to the game then asking for recompense, such as extended event times due to cryptics errors (even though it's unlikely you'll get any) is reasonable.
don't throw around cute little words you heard elsewhere thinking they make you sound smart or hip. there are only specific cases where they actually apply, learn to use them properly.

Speaking as someone who thankfully has had no connection problems so far, I would have no problem with them giving a day or two extension for people who have.

Pretty sure that I have and continue to pay money to play this game, and I do in fact know the meaning of entitlement. That is exactly how people are acting, that they are entitled something because they can't log on or have trouble staying connected. And I fail to see how I am being mean spirited. I have made fun of nobody, called nobody names, are made obviously sarcastic or snarky comments. Quit injecting what you wish to believe onto what I say.
There's really no call for anybody to come here and berate me for offering my opinion, when everybody else offers theirs.

OP is either a troll or at the very least incredibly mean spirited. If losing a day is going to make someone miss the 14 mark then they should extend it. In fact they need to do this for every day they goof up.
Cryptic has a special talent for outdoing its own failures.

Jeeze, "entitled" has got to be the most overused word on the Internet these days. Give it a rest already. It doesn't apply to every situation, and I get the feeling most people use it just to make themselves feel superior to others.

Okay so let me put it this way. I have the exact same credentials as you. I even bought the DR pack (and regretting it but a different thread) and I still think you're either a troll or a mean spirited little person who needs a serious personal check.
From what I can tell yes it's been a few hours, but quite a few people aren't like you and don't get to play all day every day. They get only a small window of time to log on and play the game.
The fact that this went on for a few hours during a goodly segment of peoples play time means that they probably lost a day.
Tack this onto the time that Cryptic took away to fix their "Advanced Dilithium Bug" and it begins to add up.
Yes Cryptic factored in extra time for those people, and for only a couple of hours I can see it. But when I logged on this morning, before going to work, it had already been going on for about four hours, and it was still going on when I got to work apparently.
So now we're looking at the average player on the weekend plays what... 4 hours I think the stats said... so there is a goodly segment of the playerbase with lives that didn't get to play today because of this.
No they're not entitled, but I could call you selfish.
yes it is .. there is no reason not to it changes nothing just ensures a few folks who's game hours keep bumping into the downtimes get a chance to finish. There is no reason not to its just common courtesy and good customer service.
While I don't agree with the OP, I also point out:
Cryptic is under no obligation to extend Mirror.
Cryptic is under no obligation not to extend Mirror.
So really, if they extend it, great! If they don't, better luck next time.
Either way, don't gripe about it. If Mirror ends on time without an extension, that's that.

I think the OP forgets that some players may have a limited time that they can devote to the game so a server crash of even a few minutes could cost them the ability to finish the event.
They have some extra days built in to the event, so it's not likely that they need to extend things just for this (unless it becomes a weekend long problem), but if they want to extend it another day?
I can't see why it would be such a big deal to anyone to drive them to pre-emptively protest the possibility of such a decision?
OP is being an inconsiderate jackass to anyone with different circumstances. To me, extending the event just by one day would be a godsent, but you don't see me opening a whine-topic about it. If they do it, yay, if they don't, well, though cookies. OP however, being a speshul snowflake he is, comes here campaigning againt it as if everyone was demanding it.
Consider this:
I've been abroad on a business trip since the event started, working 12h a day because of an emergency rush job. All I had is crappy hotel internet (anyone who ever traveled knows what this means) in the evening, but very few hours to sleep - that is, if I wanted to perform well in the day after. 12h work + 2h dinner (yay for hotel food serving speeds) + 8h sleep = 2h each day 'free' for everything else. Yet, I've still managed to get 3 transporters on each of my 8 chars - the minimum if I want to complete the event after coming home.
I arrived home at midnight tonight. Now it's almost 3am, I've been trying to play but several times I was disconnected right as the event would finish - leaving me with wasted time and nothing to show for it. I'm also dead tired because I've been up since 8am, plus traveling hours by plane sucks.
I could finish it if not for the connection issues. Sometimes that single day does matter.
And why do you even bring up your spendings on the game?
I also have a lifetime access and money spent on zen, does that make my opinion more relevant than others? No, and neither is yours. It really pushes your post and opinion to troll status.
so because it didn't effect you anybody who only had that time to do it shouldn't get a bone from criptic? How elitest of you. If they extend it that is just more delta marks for me

So, allow me to make it simple. You are entitled to have the event not extended, but others are not entitled to have it extended ? And you are entitled to whine against... entitled people ?
Nope, still as confusing as before. Or is that some kind of "I'm a special snowflakes" syndrome ?

About 30 years ago, my Uncle George passed away in San Jose, CA. My aunt had him cremated, and paid for his ashes to be scattered in the ocean.
Turns out, the Crematory, had instead, been flushing the remains. now my family is pragmatic, It wasn't so much what happened to the remains, as they where no longer the man known as George, but the fact that they where paid for something, they did not do.
That was a valuable life lesson, I keep to heart today; I always made sure my employees where paid on time and in full, I wholly expect to any job, for what I said it would cost, and I fully expect, any job I hire out, to be done to my specifications.
Granted, there is an EULA, and these things happen, But it would raise at least "My" impression of Cryptic, if they shared the same principles as I do. If not, no harm no foul, but there is people who take notice of such things.
My mother always told me to walk away from a fight, The Marines taught me how.

Wow. I'm shocked at how disrespectful that cemetary was towards your uncle, your family, and your resources.
Indeed, although Cryptic isn't bound to deliver on time and as advertised, it would go a long way if they did.

Thank you, I have to admit, I was more upset about it, I think then most in my family, as he was one of my favorite uncles. When I went to visit him during the summers, He would always send this brash young starry eyed kid a box full of Asimov, Hienlien, Pohl, etc.
My aunt offered me this advice about the situation, when she said, that If Uncle George, had still been alive, and this happened to someone he knew, he would have been royaly upset, about how someone had spent good money on a service, and didn't get the result they paid for.
I do agree, it was very disrespectful , but I would like to think it was a life lesson at an early age, I must have been in my mid teens when this happened. Much of it has to do, as all of my extended family at the time was so much older than I. They had lived through WW2, the Depression, the Dust Bowl (themselves being kids at the time) here in Oklahoma, so naturally, I followed in their own habits and ideology.
When I hear the word "entitled" in an online discussion, I immediately reduce how much credit I'll give the rest of the post. It's like "hitler" in that.
This thread is just circling the drain so... /closed
