Cryptic losing Money..BIG TIME !!!!

hyefatherhyefather Member Posts: 1,286 Arc User
I am what Cryptic would call "a Whale". I buy stuff just because I can, when I'm depressed. I buy Zen. When I happy I buy zen. When someone stands on one foot and bounces up and down. I buy zen. Why, because... I can.
But NOT ANY MORE. I'm afraid that through all the Hic-ups, bugs and so forth. My account might accidently get banned (thats all you hear nowadays). I couldn't imagine my account with all the stuff I have acumilated getting a perment ban. All that time I have put In on rep projects, collecting doffs and boffs. The Lobi and Lockbox ships. All gone because of a accident. Who knows. I may have did something that PWE doesn't approve of and BAM!! Ban. I'm sorry I just can't take the chance. I really want to level up my weapons now but I guess I will have to just become a real F2P player and grind, grind, grind (even tho I have a lifetime).
Get this fixed and I'll start supporting the game again. As it is. Even the smallest chance of a ban is not worth it. Seriously, if zen was like 10000 for $1.00, I just couldn't do it. I don't see anyone taking the chance.
I imagine I'm not alone. This must be hitting PWI/Cryptics pocket book really bad. I say we will see a official annoncement about a rollback very soon. What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall at cryptic studios right now. I bet they are in a panic.

P.S. Even if all the Bans were pure Gossip and BS. This is one rumor that has done damage.

I just had the same thought. No one is losing money except the people spending it.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

Ah I see now. So because you are no longer supporting this game financially, Cryptic is losing money big time, which, begs the question, how much you were forking out to them.

Must of been in the thousands per week....

I love how most of you guys start attacking the "TRUTH". No matter what you say to try and smear a post. People know the "TRUTH". Its like everyone knows the sky is blue but you think if enough of you get together and say its purple. Ppl will start believeing you. On second thought. Why would you even defend Cryptics bugs. A smart person would be on the winning team.

P.S. Lay off the "Warlock" Tiger Blood. Its making you delusional.

Hey, when a self proclaimed whale says he's not dropping any more money on STO, its bad for sto, cause he's probably not the only one.

What rumor? the one you just started?

OP is likely referring to blitzsth who recently had their account banned (and apparently unbanned since) but also had their Steam account banned as a result/effect/cause, right around the time the new Fraud Prevention system (see bellow) was initiated.

OP is probably also referring to the new 'fraud prevention' system Cryptic has enabled on STO that puts users on a 'probation' period where the Zen they buy cannot be traded for Dilithium and any items that they would buy that could normally be traded (keys, anything in a lockbox opened with said key, R&D packs) is bound to account. A system that thus far seems to be very, well, broken, as I myself have been hit with it, even though I've used the same payment method for nearly 5 years. CS has also informed people, self included, that the system will automatically, if not immediately, flag any Steam Wallet users for probation simply cause, well, you can probably fill in the rest.

I agree that it is a valid concern, expect that:

    A) the OP presented himself very poorly

    B) there is already an open thread concering this, why make a new one?

Your idea of truth is rather vague. Your description is sensational at best, old news at worst. If you have something substantial to say, do so. In terms of credibility...linking Wikipedia doesn't help your case. For now all you have is an attention post, thus no one is taking it seriously.

oh, well ok then, if the OP had said something more resembling this at the start we might have at least avoided some confusion

If you took the time to read the ban thread you are referencing you'd see that the issue is with Steam and not PWE/Cryptic.

Again, drama. I'm all for legit discussion, but this reeks of theatrics. If STO or cryptic tanks...so what? It's not like there aren't other things to do.

Nope. I'm not claustrophobic nor am I paranoid. I'm sane enough to know the walls are not out to get me, thank you.

I really have no idea what you're talking about. But the post about fraud prevention (by someone else) did add clarity. You really need to stop the drama and be more succinct in your posting.

Guys! Guys!! The OP is totally on to something here.. This whole thing wreaks of a conspiracy by Cryptic's reptilian overloads to run their business into the ground by making sure he doesn't spend any more money in the game.

Those of you that can't see it are totally blind to the "truth", man...

    alpha centauri

wow, that phrase stuck with me for a long time that i actually remembered where it came from. though beyond earth imo was a big step backwards from alpha c :(

on topic, cryptic making poor choices is par for their course. any but the most self deluded know how much they rely on big spenders over any other type. LTS sales, delta and other high priced packs...all aimed at those willing to spend a ton.

all the while keeping certain gamer types out of the game by having zero content for them.
