Sciencey missions are always nice, feel more like classical Trek. The design with the circles-within-circles is certainly reminiscent of Solanae tech but not quite. Doesn't seem quite Iconian either though; maybe another servitor race.
Whatever the thing's function may be, it is definitely Iconian.
Just because it happened in STO doesn't mean it's iconians.
Thats another thing about the admiral: He never tells you anything until hes ready. But when he is, you get all the details you could possibly need to do your job.
Can we get this admiral to do all of STO's dev blogs?
Obvious Iconian device is obvious. External circles? Iconian glass floor panels use circles... The Iconian symbol does too - Two concentric circles, in fact, just like that... And that aesthetic looks "suspiciously" like an Iconian symbol with some extra stylization. Furthermore, we've seen some Iconian control consoles in the game that look just like that central orb. The containment field/hull around Iconian probes looks like that, too - Blue and spherical.
And no, there's no way that this is Solanae. The Iconians are the ones that taught the Solanae and presumably Vaadwaur about their armor tech, but if it resembles both yet is none, then... Yeah. Iconian. Possibly a bit outdated, but Iconian nonetheless. The one thing that makes me wonder, though, is why it would be "fragile." Iconians seem to have built pretty sturdy stuff normally.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
So, something that doesn't have to do with Iconians?
We'll even learn that the Iconians manipulated Q and the Risians to give us the Winter and Summer events so we'd be distracted while they made their preps and plans.
Maybe I am missing something but I still don't what this is about?
This is related to something that happens at the very end of the currently released portion of the DR storyline - the mission you can only run at L59...
If you haven't gotten that far, this post could be considered in need of a spoiler tag...
Yup. I gathered that as soon as I saw Gaul. The Doctor made the comment that Gaul didn't have the alien parasite in him, and then I said "I see what you did there Cryptic".
For people saying the last mission was boring, your reaction should have been WTF when you killed Gaul. He was definitely an Iconian.
Vaadwaur Kahn, aka genetic augmentation. Vahhhnie, the effects of working out a ton. Vaadborg. There's a number of reasons that Gaul > average Vaadwaur...
If Gaul is an actual Iconian, the Iconians need to go to "evil overlord 99", aka so basic that it's not even worth noting how basic it is. You don't show up going "we can nuke 6 high councilors in one breath" to "3 waves and the Flag Officer Hero" kills us in the span of less than a month. Evil Overlording 99: Once you show your grand power, you take advantage of it every chance you can...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Reminds me at that thingy, with the circles reminding me at the actual Iconian symbol:

That's the high level of care one expects from a starfleet officer... crikey is Barclay the one looking after this object?
I find that to be contrary to your signature.

Yeah, and just like a baby chick if you don't feed it 3000 zen. it dies of hunger (or something).
