Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's something else here than that. The mission was programmed into the game, and a unique doff was created(including a special picture). Either plans changed AFTER it was created, or it had a different purpose than this event.
My thoughts exactly. I'd think if ithe whole thing was really just "a bit of old data" that never should have been there in the first place, they would've said so when it appeared instead of promising to fix it. I believe they simply decided against fixing the mission for whatever reason, and just say that to get people to stop demanding it be fixed.

I'd settle for letting Roms trade their Exocomp/Reman doff from their allied faction in for the promised Rom doff. That should be really simple.

Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
I like seeing this event now and again, and it's certainly better than no event for the weekend! Free purple doffs is good for newer players, and building up alt rosters.

Commander Rojal Was dropped last time so romulans didn't get to participate. From the blog it is unclear if we will get him this time, or not.

Last time, Smirk explained that he had been removed, but bad code had made it onto holodeck allowing people to pick up the mission. (Many felt that the explanation was BS, but it was an explanation.) Romulans had to go to the Klingon/Federation academies to get the free doff.
This time's the same as last, go to the Klingon/Starfleet academy to get your doff. Romulans have always been able to participate, just not at the command center.
I suppose this might give a reason to start using and sinking EC into batteries again... or not.
By slotting these DOffs is going to take away from the benefits of slotting DOffs for reducing attack weapon CDs, A2B/BOff CD reductions and shield buffs. I might get these but probably not use them.

This is awesome - I love DOFFing in this game. Of course, I wasn't 'spoiled' by how it used to be, so I do not realize what I am 'missing' of course.
I am curious, though, if the 50% has kicked in yet? I've been completing tons of assignments since yesterday and have not noticed any sort of bonus yet....
I can't seem to claim Kazan for my Romulan KDF allied character. Is this a common issue or no? He's not anywhere in my roster nor have I ever claimed him in a previous event.
I'm curious if there will be an extension on this event, given how the servers have been down for most of it so far.... and, yeah, when does the bonus XP start?
Also, please get rid of the fckin a2b. Its absurd.

For one thing, it's pretty disrespectful to have the SF cadets cringe and run like rabbits every time a Klingon hologram pops up while every cadet and his instructor runs in to help smash the SF hologram at the KDF academy.
For another, it's quite agitating to have to through five to ten collapsed particles in a row to find one that gives up a hologram or a particle.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.

It only is effecting my kdf ferasan but, my kdf reman did receive the doff.
Neither have ever run this before, as they are no older than roughly 2month old characters.

My Exocomp from the last JO Event has mysteriously disappeared. And it sucks that I can't just reclaim it during this event.

Newbie here, sorry if wrong thread but the forums would not even allow me to create a new thread, so I am little confused - this is the first forum with such restrictions for newly registered players I have encountered.
Anyway. I did the academy event with the collection of particles and claimed the reward of purple ENG officer. I recieved the inventory thingy - rewardPack. I clicked on it to get the officer and in chat window it says that the officer (name) is reporting for duty. The problem is I can't find the officer, I can't swap my existing officer for the new one on the bridge stations.
Once again, sorry for probably wrong thread but I can't make a new one and I learnt about the particle collection from an article about the Junior officer weekend

and/or do a total revamp and have folks get a random DO from a fixed list of unique DOs. If they have all they get a Dilithium container.
Common & Green are plain random DO,
Blue and Purple are unique from a fixed list.
1 DO for each profession...
Could even add them with R&D Schools...
Make em bound on acquire, and you cant downgrade or upgrade em and no CXP or dil when dismissed.
Also make it so Roms get their own set and can do at Command Center.
