Casutic Plasma: What does it do?

Hi all

I'm building up a plasma beam-boat and have been considering picking up the caustic plasma beams from the 'Last Stand' episode because they're pretty easy to obtain and grindin' ain't no fun. But what's does caustic plasma offer that's different from normal beams? It seems standard plasma beams are actually more effective.

What is the benefit of having caustic plasma over standrard plasma beam weapons?

This sto wiki link say that Caustic Plasma "...is similar to standard plasma weapons, but their plasma fires burn twice as fast." I never tested it in game so can't say which one is better.

If you are doing Romulan reputation, you can get drops of Romulan Plasma as you progress through tiers. Those are better than standard plasma as they have disruptor proc and standard plasma damage aoe proc.

Proc is twice as potent for half as long.

I wonder if it does stack with Normal Plasma and/or Science Console Plasma proc. I've heard plasma procs from energy weapons do not stack from the same target at all.
