Leveling to 60 through storyline - no rant, rage post or anything like it

So, I have been thinking about how we don't have enough new storyline missions to boost us all the way to 60 without replaying them or grinding in another place.

There are 3 fixes to this, two I will only mention briefly, and a third I'd like to get into detail.
1) boost XP rewards on the new missions
2) add more missions

3) Rescale the current episode tree.

Before Delta Rising hit Holodeck, if you would level a character without any xp boost, borg invasion, patrol or anything, using just normal episodes, you would be done long before you would have played through all teh storyline missions. I usually have the luxury of skipping half the Cardassian arc and the entire Breen arc if I want to. We had the 4 Featured Episodes arcs shifted in after we had all xp needed to get to 50.

Next to that, we have a pretty big bunch of level 50 missions. Half the Borg arc, all of the Solanae arc. All pre-DR missions. All handing out xp. None of which is seen as a way of leveling.

My suggestion: take a very close look at the xp rewards of all episode missions, then take a look at all the xp you need to level from 1 to 60. Then reset the minimum level for each mission so that we have enough storyline missions from 1 to 60. We might still have too much xp in the normal rewards. Or too few. All of which can simply be adjusted.

For example. Let DR missions start at, say, level 55, and make usage of the Solanae and Borg arcs to fill the 50-55 gap.

I know there are gonna be many people disliking this idea. I know its gonna sound weird that new content will only be available after replaying some older content. But I believe that this would clear up the mess that is the episode tree. Its gonna be a big chance, people are gonna complain, you'll need something to help prevent the spreading of forum fire. But I believe that in the long run, its gonna make people very content to know exactly what to do to get to 60, instead of having to find out a way that is not always as clear.

Sorry kinda FRATd halfway thru but I get your message. First, STO has NEVER been about levelling. I am gonna go out on a limb and say the average player PROBABLY is not interested in doing story missions and if given the chance will totally skip them. Yes that is my opinion but I really believe that.

Second, if the queues werent destroyed by incompetent people behind the curtain, there would be lots of ways to level without grinding some ridiculous patrol over and over ad nauseum. Hey whatever, diehards you like doing boring repetitive stuff I get it, but most rest of us have no desire to. Good luck with it all. I mean that honestly. Good luck with this mess.

I am with the OP on this one. I always thought leveling was too fast, all throughout the game. The recent changes went too far to fix the issue though. I think we need to go back just a little towards where it used to be.
I cannot agree that the average player doesn't want to do the storyline...at least for the 1st time. Not everyone wants to be at the top on the first day. The storyline is actually very good. I make and play alts..and I dread doing some of the story missions, but some I actually look forward to.
Gaining a level should feel like an achievement. In other MMos, making top level is a cause for celebration. I have 23 characters in Champions Online, and 22 of them are top level, and it was exciting to get there every time. Pre-DR making a level in STO made me say "What? Already?" I even made the mistake of creating a new character during a double XP event. I am more about the journey than the destination. Endgame content is more stuff to do for me..not the ONLY thing to do for me.
I know there is a segment of the population here that only want to do endgame and PvP, and that's fine...for them...but please don't attempt to speak for all of us. There are players who actually want to experience everything this amazing game has to offer.

Sorry to disappoint you, but in the beginning STO was ALL about leveling. After hitting level 40 in 1.0 you were sitting in DS9 with nothing to do.

At the minimum, a player should be able to reach level 60 by playing through all the DR episodes on elite, plus around 10 PvE queues and a handful of doff assignments. We shouldn't have to grind through patrols for days in order to continue playing the core content.

The storyline levels really do need to be looked over. Really I think the only way things would ever be dealt with is when level 60 missions start to get added, then the rest of the missions betwen 51 and 60 could be reorganised to make leveling more convenient, not that they'd bother of course, they'd just cram 20 missions into level 60 instead, then wait for the cap to go up.

Queues: apparently no longer thought of as "grinding." How is Conduit or Vortex any less ridiculous than anything else in the game, if that's your starting point?
