What are Data Sample used for now?

I have a bank full of Data Sample and the like, what are they good for now that the crafting system has been change/improved.

    You can convert them to the new crafting materials. You should be able to double click on them and it will bring up a conversion menu.

    i might be wrong now, but right-click on them choose the "use"??? command and a window will pop up where you can trade them for R&D materials.
