Lightning

Maybe this has been asked before, but is there any way to increase the lightning of a room? I know that there is a lot of light details, but none of them seems to really work. I only found a few flowers that generate some light.

Any one knows how to increase it?

Sorry for bad english and thanks.

There are a few FX objects like fire that give off some light.

However, the simplest way to increase the light level in a map is to change the backdrop. Backdrop - Science 01 works very well.

you mean lighting? That is controlled by the backdrop you choose. None of the props can make a large enough light source on it's own to change much.

The props that actually include lightning bolts aren't very bright either. :P

EDIT: I suppose a longer explanation is in order. The assets we have all have a limited radius of effect. so they only light up things close to them.

Well, if you enjoy shadow artifacts... The lightsource and map geometries are all set-up wrong in that the geometry is allowed to interact with the lightsource, which results in the effect of directional shadow artifacts. Just another glaring fault in the endless line of foundry ****-ups...

I found that the omni lights works. They have a really small radius (even de 100 ones) but they at least work.

    Thanks all for the answerds.

Those really work? I looked at them on Tribble but it seemed like they didn't give off any actual light.

Some ppl in the foundry chat channel said that depend on the graphic card, but they do for me (I use high settings). Good thing for me, is that I just need them for a roleplay video.

    This bears further investigation.

EDIT: I tested this and I couldn't get the lights to have any effect.

There are a few ways for lightning.

The easiest way is to change the backdrop.
Or you can use the fx-objects und the new light-object.
Or (on a small customimterier) you can build your map inside of a holodeck-object (this makes a good generally lightning)

Lighting has been a constant frustration for me. Although not the most pivotal role in setting atmosphere for a mission it is an important aspect. I will admit it had halted development for a project or two. My latest issue is a creative reproduction of neon signs. But I'll be honest, I'll settle with a "street light" effect like the one on the dilithium mining rock. Just not moving.
