If I'm running a disruptor cannon build on an escort (well T6 raptor, 5 fore 2 rear slots), is the trade off of dropping a DHC for the Elachi Heavy Cannon worth the drop in dps of the weapon downgrade to boost 2x turrets + 3 or 4 DHCs?
Ignore torpedo from the set, just interested in the energy weapons trade off, if you will loose raw dps, or if it's more a judgement call on whether you want the other 2-piece set bonus (more shield HP).
Well, to answer my own question, and anybody else's who might be looking for an answer on this, last night I looked at some numbers.
On my build HERE (which has since changed slightly)
I was running:
3xDHC + Elachi HC + Bio heavy turret + turret + gravimetric torp
Then, replacing Elachi HC with another DHC for:
4xDHC + Bio heavy turret + turret + gravimetric torp
Sitting in system space looking at tool tips and adding each of the energy weapon DPS's together ended up in a GAIN of about 100dps by switching out the HC for the DHC, despite the LOSS of the elachi 2 set piece disruptor bonus.
Essentially, imo the Elachi heavy cannon isn't worth it, unless you need the arc or can't run the elachi torp to keep the disruptor boost.

replace one of your turrets with the torp and check the dps again.
