I think it would be nice for a bridge officer to go off on a BOFF mission to do something and we get some actual in-game benefit from it (I also think that our Bridge Officers should have a personal life of random generated interests such as painting, cooking, bat'leth mastery, music, etc which sometimes require them to take a personal leave of absense to attend lectures, symposiums, tournaments, etc. It also forces us to use other BOFF's which are neglected and gathering dust. BOFF's are people too, why can't they get married, attend family reunions, or developing a random personal skill by putting in a vacation request?) . Like if we're a bit overwhelmed on a space or ground mission map and it was programmed into that mission for us to receive assistance from our BOFF bringing in the calvary (in some form or another). Probably swinging into low orbit for a quick drop of a small squad of marines and then taking their escort class ship (a defiant class probably?) to assist your ship in space combat by taking some of the firing ships off the back of your first officer. When they return back to your ship for regular active duty, they can bring technical spec's to give to your engineer on a new upgrade proposed for ship refits in the weeks to come but your BOFF thought to bring you a present. (*like an early Christmas*) Like how the Alien device you give to your scientist requires certain components in order for them to power it and when you take the powered alien device to your engineer to turn into a console.. again it requires more components you have to shop for.
