This is one thing that really bugs me (besides loadouts being buggy). Traits and DOFFs do not save in a loadout, and require you to manually change them when you change loadouts or ships.
Devs, please make this happen. It would make a lot of our lives easier.

I would actually like to see traits saved by costume slot. There are some advantages to this in terms of longterm planning for the game.
One of which is, you could allow swimwear off Risa, just with a nerfed trait pool accessible from a swimwear costume slot.
You could also sell different costumes that have traits only usable while wearing that costume.
You could sell species change as a per costume feature such that I put on my Ferengi costume and have Ferengi traits available when I look like a Ferengi.
Doffs are supposed to be part of the loadout. Oftentimes I just wind up with 0 space doffs (extremely annoying when you warp into an Advanced). But doffs *are* supposed to be saved/loaded along with it.
+1 on adding Traits to the loadouts! It will definitely promote diverse game-play.
See, this is the sort of useful things Cryptic should be concentrating on!

I totally agree.
But to be clear, DOffs are saved... well are supposed to be saved with the loadout. When I save a loadout, it lists Duty Officers among the things in the feedback of what was saved. So it must be a bug that the Duty Officers are not being saved.
Another thing, to make Duty Officers work with loadouts, we need a means to reserve any and all Duty Officers that are part of a loadout. Currently if you have different DOffs for different loadouts, you can assign DOffs you need for a loadout to a DOff assignment, and if you switch to the loadout that uses those DOffs, they fail to load because they are on assignment. Keeping track of DOffs used in loadouts so you don't assign them is not easy.
Ground loadouts are a good idea too. Swapping modules sure would be useful.

maybe in an ideal world...
but do you really want your traits getting scrambled every map change?
Loadouts were never the cause of power bar and bridge officer scrambling. Our problems with AWOL Boffs and Power trays began long before the introduction of theoretically savable loadouts.
Cryptic's character database is obviously a mess of poor indexing and missing pointers and they really need to take some time to assess it and make the necessary engine alterations to handle our character data reliably.
As it stands they took the champions engine, which was never intended for the volume and variety of data our STO captains carry with them, and made a messy hack job of adapting it to meet the 1 year deadline to get this game out.
Its well past time that cryptic went back and polished things off.
Ground loadouts would be cool. I dunno about other people but I use different gear on different ground missions. Also not having to manually redo traits between ground and space all the time would be useful.

Because playing a ground stf and right after a space is so annoying. (I play Elites so I need those traits.)
