I never understand the point of I Quit threads. The only people that care when someone quits is the people in their friend list and fleet. Although, it is merely a courtesy to mention it them. The rest of us simply don't care when someone quits.
Cryptic seems determined to drive away all but the most dedicated players including the whales. Is this the new model for this so called F2P game? Seems to be backfiring in the most spectacular fashion ever.
Have to say it is kind of interesting seeing an MMO imploding this way.

All poking fun aside, I reckon people do these mostly for themselves, to get a sense of closure. Just a quick statement as to why they feel hurt/wronged, and then be able to close the book on it.
I don't think they truly believe anyone knows them. And, from my perspective, usually indeed, not knowing them, it makes little difference either: I simply hear the sadness behind the words of someone leaving. And the way things are going of late, I can surprisingly empathize with their feelings nowadays.

Better closure is deleting all your characters and completely remove every trace of it from the computer. I Quit threads seem to be just attention-seeking nonsense.
At least someone gets to see that, only a ****** would be flipping them off in front of their screen while logged on to the STO forums...I bet someone was TRIBBLE enough to do it though.:D
The PWE/Cryptic sweatshop...not where the game is made, but where the game is played!

Actually most of these threads are by people that have been whining in game for months looking for an excuse because they are not strong enough to leave otherwise. They think friends & fleet mates will think poorly of them if they just leave. Sorry to break ti to them, but you look worse for whining all those months, should have left long ago with dignity...
...then they come back like nothing happened a few months later after quitting some other MMO.
Well your message is a bit sort on "why", but for me was also a moment where I thought to leave this game especially as a Star Trek fan. Although beacuse mine involvement in my fleet and some sto friends is to muchto make that decision.
The mission story itsellf are great, but it is the lvl grindings that ruins it.
Basacly to get to next lvl, atleast I, enroute to lvl 60 you have to several old missions/pve/stf/foundry/some Delta Quadrant missions/Kobali Prim e repeat the sequence day by day. Also with the loss off several explore missions, makes it even harder. In sort there sort the missions in Delta Quadrant should be engough to get atleast to the next lvl, sadly it isn't and that makes me very fustrated.
I would post an I Quit thread, but I don't think anyone from Cryptic actually gives a ****.
Well, who knows?! i doubt they'd give a TRIBBLE(tic) when I left. But it was funny to see, that when a well-respected player -- antoniosalieri, in this case -- only indicated that he *might* leave, Bort was immediately all over it. Which only strengthens my belief that they certainly *do* read here. It's rather bewildering they do so little with it, though.
OP, I and many others feel your pain. When Cryptic starts pulling stats on the decreased volume of players, that's when you know **** has hit the fan. Don't let other forum members make you feel bad. I think it's great to hear that we are not alone in the universe by speaking up. Let the trolls be trolls and Cryptic be....well.....Cryptic.
how epic and immersive would it have been if instead of dilithium it was called latinum bars. I mean, you need to spend latinum to post your opinion on the forum, the pinnacle of ferengi oligarchy!
honestly, cryptic made a bad decission when they introduced dilithium as main currency instead of latinum.
you know like liquid latinum as a raw state and gold pressed as the refined state...

But replying to those is ok?
The thing is, replies to I quit threads don't create new threads. "I quits" do.
Yes.
Replies give them the attention they crave. No attention = no reason to make new posts about it.
Only reason I'm here... haven't logged into STO in days, the forums are far more entertaining than anything Cryptic dished up in Delta Rising.

PS: No, you cannot have you stuff back!

One of those lines contradicts the other.
Time gates are your friend. :P
"Post 'I quit' thread now. Cost: 17,875 Dilithium."
lol
'Cause. time is dilithium :P
Lol. I am saving my dilithium for my ship upgrades.
