Viscous Cycle (Advanced) : glitched optionals

Viscous Cycle (Advanced) seems to fail every time when the optional "save wounded gekli" comes up.
I've tried healing it with everything except science team, eventhough its not damaged. I tried sticking with to it untill the timer ran out, even tried sticking on it with the entire team. There's no other waypoint nor mob (be it gekli or other) around.
One other optional that causes problems is the "scan anomaly". When you start the scanning and the fluidic soup makes you move a bit, then the scanning interrupts and you also get a fail.
Did anyone come up with a working way to complete these optionals ? Am I missing something or are they both glitched ?
It's very annoying to try and collect some argonite gas in this allready near dead pug.

The old elite pre dr version was pretty glitchy. I didn't think they fixed it but I had hoped they did. This proves that cryptic's choice to make optionals mandatory was pretty poor.

Gekli never caused me problems pre-DR, but I'm pretty sure the scan anomaly one has been mentioned several times as being broken, specially by the Accolades crowd.
