tech upgrade bug or am I stupid...

geminisierrageminisierra Member Posts: 180 Arc User
more times than not, I've tried to upgrade and item. The item shows up in the upgrade window, then I click in the "tech upgrade" box and get a list of the usable upgrades, then I click in the "accelerator" box, the upgrade button is available. then I click on the upgrade button and the meters move and then poof the "tech upgrade" box is empty and the "accelerator" box are empty and those items are gone and I've lost 700 DIL too...

so... am I doing something wrong or is there a bug there.

    From what it sounds like...

Once you click the upgrade button, finalizing the upgrade; the item is upgraded to that point...and yes, the items used to upgrade to that point disappear since they are used.

Now, you can use more than one at a time; just drag/drop and stack the boosts.

Did the bar for the tech points reach the end already?

    It works like this:

You need a certain number of tech points for the item to actually change. Each ugprade kit will add tech points. This works instantenously basically and costs you dilithium. The item can still be used afterwards.

When the tech points bar is filled (you have the necessary amount of tech points), you can do the "actual" upgrade that will take a while to complete and make the item unuseable in that time.

ah... that makes sense. the points bar didn't fill up... and I didn't have anymore usable items... but it suck that it used my DIL before actually doing any kind of upgrade. I'll have to pay attention more closely to the upgrades.

I actually feel embarrased for you, vicariously, seeing yet another new player, all naive and trusting, who's getting the rude awakening that the single tech-upgrade was just one of many, many, he will need to get his item upgraded.

it also seemed you used a green upgrade kit, i would recommend using a purple kit to upgrade to save tons of dilithium

Green kit upgrades 2000 tech points for 700 dilithium
Purple kits upgrade 12800 tech point for 1000 dilithium

the difference between the 2 is staggering.

    Improved Tech = ~90k EC
    Superior Tech = ~900k EC

The difference between the 2 is staggering.

You are not being stupid at all. In fact mustrumridcully0 explained it perfectly.
