What differences in story between factions?

Hi,

What I am wondering, is there any actual difference in story between the different factions past a certain point? Or is it basically the same story, which just slightly different flavor text?

I have played through a fair chunk of the game as a Federation captain (in DR right now), and have played a bit as a Klingon... but the Klingon is now doing the same storyline missions (with 0 difference in writeup) that the Federation character did.

Makes me wonder - Once past a certain point, is the only 'real' difference cosmetics & 'limiting factors' (ie exchange, uniforms, etc).

- So get access to different ships whether Federation, Klingon or Romulan.
- Maybe get slight variations in text when picking up each mission & handing in
- Access to different 'uniforms'
- Access to different fleets, exchanges, etc (ie Fed & KDF exchanges are separate)

What got me asking - my Klingon is doing Nimbun quest-line, and it plays out exactly like it did for my Federation character. Made me wonder if the rest of the episodes are basically the exact same... with just slightly changed flavor for "RP'ing" purposes?

umm, Exchange is exactly the same for everyone, it is shared. but yeah, otherwise those ARE the only differences. After the first set episodes, they become nearly the same. there ARE a couple of missions that are different, for example, feds have a several more in the cardassian and romulan arc but that is it.

Partially, yes. The story missions from the Cardassian front onwards are shared between all factions, though if I remember correctly the Cardassian arc contains more missions on the Fed (and Fed-aligned Romulan) side. The Nimbus arc was introduced as part of the Romulan campaign and later inserted into the Fed and KDF arcs. Finally, all the former Featured Episodes are also cross-faction (for example, Temporal Ambassador and the Breen series).

Other major differences between the factions include:

    - Access to different starting zones (Feds start out with accces to Sirius block, KDF with Omega Leonis, Romulans with Tau Dewa).
    - Different duty officer system (Fed Diplomacy track vs. KDF Marauding)
    - Slight variations during cross-faction missions.
    - Access to faction-specific mini-missions. An example are the raiding missions in Pi Canis only available to the KDF.

Exchange prices for faction-specific items may also differ. For example, a Federation duty officer of a certain type may cost more or less than its Klingon equivalent due to different levels of supply and demand.

Vice Admiral Mathrias | U.S.S. Utrecht (Blockade Runner Retrofit)

Vice Admiral Kiarl Leftrin | U.S.S. Aegir (Fleet Recon Science Vessel)
