The grinds

Look, most of us understand that a F2P game has to come with some grind that you can pay to bypass, that's basic logic but can we at least have grinds that are fun and have replay value please? It would make the game a lot easier to play because as it is we have lots of content that is either years old or adapted versions of other, older things.

I for one would like to have a 5 man 'escort the ship' type of PvE with random enemies and maybe some random events so that no two runs are ever the same, perhaps have an adapted version of starbase incursion and fleet alert from the other point of view?

I'd like to see some sort of epic space battle become a PvE queue (A bit like the battle in Sacrifice of Angles) given that the fleet queues have pretty much re-envisioned Starbase 24, perhaps we could have something like Starbase 24 but where yours is the attacking fleet. But mostly I'd like to see a fleet engagement where you have two fleets lined up infront of one another and the player team has a random set of objectives (chosen at random when the instance loads to maintain replay value) they must fulfil to put the fleet into a winning position.

Just a couple of ideas.

I agree! And maybe even add more skill points to some of the missions as well (some give very little or none at all)

Sounds good - some more variability for grinding would definatly help. Especially if each rerun is a slightly bit different.

You're supposed to buy hundreds of XP boosts from the c-store.

It is a peculiar phenomenon that we can imagine events that defy the laws of the universe.

That helps with levelling, yes, it doesn't however help with the endgame which is what this thread is about.

I just finished the first half of the missions for DR on elite. I did so since I leveled up to 50 on elite and have never felt a need to take it off elite - until now....

I will continue and finish all missions as I'm a completest but to say I feel abused would be a monumental understatement. On the bright side it is a little better than last week. Nonetheless I'm not sure what my future game time will bring as the excessive time gates added to the game and now this have really sucked my joy out of playing for hours at a time sadly enough....
If you are looking for an excellent PvE fleet consider: Omega Combat Division today.

Very solid concept and idea mate, I rather like it. Generally speaking anything which can add some variety to the endgame content in some areas is definitely a good idea.

I enjoy this kind of thread. It's like farting in the air to fight the wind. It's poetic, childish and completely useless.

As far as Cryptic is concerned that IS the endgame. Just keep buying XP boosts to hit the now almost impossible Spec points, and only have 'fun' when and where we tell you.

Their reasoning is that if a game is free the player should have to work for the reward. In some respects I agree with it. But having it take years (literally) to craft and god-knows-how-long for the rest of the game's grindfest bull****...yeah, I'm not happy with it. The focus on repeatable content is an out for money sinks. They wouldn't have to do FEs all the time -- just quarterly would be fine. At least then we'd have something non-grind related to look forward to. Instead they want us to get impatient and pissed off enough to spend money to finish the grind. Thy don't want us happy -- they want us frustrated. It's their whole business model.

Not totally related, just came to mind with the "idea" thread theme here.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

Battle of Korfez is similar to this. You might look at that mission.

This is a pretty awesome idea and I'd love to see it.
