This game is in such a sorry state...

knuhteb5knuhteb5 Member Posts: 1,831 Arc User
This game is in such a sorry state that not even the most basic things in game are working. I'm a KDF Romulan and I can't even use the boff trainer on New Romulus. What's worse is that according to the people on NOP public service, it works for Fed romulans. Gotta love the treatment kdf rommies get.

Then, there's the personal tray glitch where my preset boff ability layout just resets itself. Thank god I was able to save my most current layout to the loadoats because otherwise, I would have given up on fighting all of the bugs in this game. Please get your bug elimination team together Cryptic and get these game breaking bugs fixed asap.

Edit: As an additional incentive for fixing these things, just imagine how relieved the Klingons will be when they no longer have to stare at my ugly reman by their boff trainer...

What's amusing is how quickly they took down those patrol missions that the cheating/exploiting player base were using to level and "fixed" them, but leave things like this lingering forever.

Yes, I know their priorities are questionable. Regardless of the exploit mess, there should have already been some acknowledgement of the issue in the patch notes for such a fundamental in-game feature.

Why isn't this complaint in the form of a bug report in the Bug Report section of the forums?

Ok, so two issues, which are not affecting everyone, means the game is apparently in 'such a sorry state'...

Another pointless whine thread in other words...

It already is in the bug report section of the forums. http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1251411.

Did you bother to look for it?

The bugs are starting to add up and it's starting to get to the point that this game is unplayable. Exchange? Broken. Boff trainer? Borked. Personal tray? Borked. What's next honestly?

Maybe because devs don't bother to reply much.

What's worse is people seem to be okay with the current state of the game, which means they're either ignorant of the problems or have extremely low standards.

And here's the kicker, they'll tell you to quit because you shouldn't play this game if you don't agree with the state it's in. False choice, right? Standards have gotten so low now that anything flies. Who cares anymore, right!?

Don't neccessarily quit the game, but your best chance of achieving anything is:
    - Report Bugs
    - Post Feedback (ideally constructive)
    - When you're dissatisfied, stop playing and paying.

Due to the F2P game nature of the game, stopping to pay may not be sufficient. Too much of your activity in the game can affect others to pay. Only your absence cannot have that effect, basically. Without you, there is one guy less that could buy Zen for Dilithium, and buy or sell stuff on the Exchange.

And at the end, Cryptic is a business. If their decisions and activities (or indecisions and inactivities) hurt the bottom line, they will have to figure out what to do. And then feedback and bug reports can help them guide what to do. But if the business is going well and their decisions don't seem to damage their business, then they have no need for such guidance.

I think people have gotten used to such crappy quality that they see this as normal
I think they kinda have. How many MMOs are there where players do not complain all the time about bugs and issues and nerfs and imbalance on the forums? But how often people like to claim other games are somehow better - only if you go there, you find all kinds of complains and bugs and what not.

The MMO is always more bug-free on the other side.

Battered man/woman syndrome in a way..

Still loving the abusive person dispite being spat upon, because you know.. you have a child in the relationship and you put lot of energy and effort in raising the child. (Ships, captains)

I'm kind of on the fence at the moment, not wanting to play, but also not allowing this to ruin all the time I put in.

One thing I do know though.. no new characters anymore. Nope.

So basically business is business...all mmo's are the same...probably would be best to quit. Omg you're so wise, so smart...why didn't Cryptic hire you months ago as the community rep?

Edit: It's like when people hate on Comcast because it stinks but they have no choice but to use it because it's the only cable provider in the area. Same thing with STO so telling us to quit doesn't solving anything.

For the same reason you were not hired as QA manager.

The thing is ive played games FAR worse then STO like battlestar galactica online thats the poster bchild of a crappy game right there.

However this game is headed that way and its so sad cause this game has been pretty good up till DR now its just a big steaming pile of monkey TRIBBLE.

It was a joke. What you said didn't communicate anything of substance to me so you could have easily been hired by their community team. Try to be a little less folksy and a little more substantive.

Well you're a Romulan, one strike against you, and you're Klingon allied, that's two strikes against you from the get go...in a game where only Feds matter I can't say I'm surprised that a bug like this is only affecting KDF allied.

    This, really.

I remember the days when computer games came playable out of the box, with features that worked, you paid a reasonable price, and patching was only done to add new stuff, bug fixing wasn't a major problem and stuff was released when it was said it would be. And, it would never be made not to work.

Now, you pay to get it at first and more to use it, on a later than stated release, you pay extra to get other stuff, features printed on the boxart are missing, and it wont work for a good few months in as QA didn't bother operating. And because it is all online based your game is useless when they take the server down. And they will.

STO has never, and will never meet anyone's standards.

It will never be an acceptable representation of Star Trek, and it will never be the game that has those immersive features or interesting game play that you want.

It's a generic F2P MMO with a nice paint job, made by a developer that can't really do anything else - and owned by a publisher that do business Farmville style.

That's why I'm always OK with whatever happens here, because I know what STO is and I know what to expect.

I would argue that those who rage on here constantly due to bugs, dev behaviour or content not meeting expectations are those who are ignorant. You know the game, the developer and the publisher. Why expect anything else?

This. Although, I would go a bit farther than that. How everyone experiences the game is different than how others experience it. Some bug that causes a player to go into a rage is a minor inconvenience for another. Some people have to rush to the end to get everything now and complain there is nothing to do while others take their sweet time getting to the end.

Isn't that the truth! Seriously, I was talking to a friend about this last night. None of it is surprising, yet the "Star Trek" IP should imply something at least worthwhile. Now all we get is grind, power grind, and grind more. This game doesn't even allow for pure RPers because of the grind necessary to get the outfits and whips and whatnot to do the RP thing right now...
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

Yes, if ever there was an example of just how poor Cryptic's quality control priorities were, this was it. Bugs that have been reported for months/years? Ignored. Exploit? Resolved within 24 hours.

No, it's just that most of us are rational adults who realize that STO is a video game, and even if something terrible happens in a video game that doesn't require the amount of real life whining and stress that the vocal whiners on this forum seem to put into it.:cool::D

Maybe I'd feel differently if I was addicted and couldn't break away from a video game.

No doubt. I agree with you but I hope for someone in a position of influence to really love the game and try to shepherd properly.

Nonetheless I think where the expectation disconnect with most people is that they expect the IP to be better protected or should I say cared for by CBS so when they come here there is a degree service and experience they have in mind so when empirical knowledge tells them something vastly different cognitive dissidence is extreme.

Not really...it's more like you're at a restaurant. Your order comes. It's just the way you ordered it. Someone at table six is raging because their steak is over cooked.
Now do you drop your fork and rage with the person with the over cooked steak or do you go "hmmm" and eat your meal.
