I have an idea to help keep the forum sane in the absence of mods.

How about we all stop telling the devs what we think? They aren't interested in the quality of the game experience. We should also stop providing constructive feedback because NO ONE in power over this game is listening.

The above goes double for Tribble -- we waste our time testing if they refuse to fix the bugs we point out. So stop logging into Tribble, posting on the Tribble forum, and doing anything that would otherwise make the game better by our player standards.

We should also stop telling the mods/devs/overlords how to do their jobs. Some are out for reasons, others are just ignoring us. The lack of general (and basic) communication is not new to us. PWE despises its customers with a passion, even when they actually do spend money. How about we back off and let the people in charge run the place as they see fit?

Most importantly, let's STOP GETTING OUR HOPES UP. This game as a whole will never get better. Sure, some of the story bits are nice and some missions are more fun than others. I admit this game has its moments. But everything in this forum is posted in the hope that someone involved with game development will take it (and US) seriously. It simply isn't going to happen. So please, stop assuming it can get better. We've all been saying that since the year-long content drought. We're still waiting.

All you have to do is look at the history of PWE. They don't believe in communication or customer service. I say we stop discussing these concepts and stick to actual in-game topics, like missions, characters, story arcs, and whatnot. We want changes to be implemented. PWE doesn't agree with these changes. IT ISN'T OUR CHOICE AND WE HAVE NO INFLUENCE OVER THEIR DECISIONS.

All this hopemongering simply has to stop.

    Pretty good idea.

I don't tell devs what I thinik. I put what I think out to the general audience for whomever to read. People (dev or anyone else) can take it, or they can leave it. I just continue to do that which I consider fun and weight the costs of participation and play at a comforting level with the overall entertainment value I get from it. If I find the costs outpace my perceived entertainment enjoyment gain, then I take my money elsewhere to something more entertaining.

That falls under the "not up to us" category. Think about it.

NOPE. A good programmer can go through feedback and figure out what is most likely a bug and what is idle banter. My father was a software programmer--he would tell me key words that he'd look for to identify reports of pathing errors and whatnot. It's part of the job, and the devs here don't have my pity. The fact that they made their test server public SHOULD obligate them to use critical thinking and all those compurety analytical skills, but PWE isn't all that concerned. They just throw something together and assume it's all peachy, then blame us for complaining when something went wrong on their end.

Please, try another one. This one didn't wrok.

How's about no?! Always speak out, regardless of what you think it may accomplish. If for nothing else, so you can always look back and know it's wasn't because of you why no change occured.

I think we should leave the forums as it is... its a great place for incoming players to get a feel of what it is like at the end game for some users .. they can make an informed decision as to whether to really spend the time playing this game. Of course this forum may represent a small percentage of the players in game but it is still a helluva eye opener.
If i had seen the forum the way it is now a few months ago when i started playing I would not have played it as much as I have.
Im still at it only because its star trek and the space battles are fun in small doses. I feel 50 bucks well spent there. On to another 50 buck game for me now.

Also true. And even though it's a hard fight and it seems hopeless, most times you do get to have some of the things the way you think they should be. You may have to ask for 100 to get 1, but you CAN get 1.

That's my mindset. It may go nowhere but I will at least be able to cross "my inaction" off the list of reasons as things go south. ;)

    1) Not sure how long the OP has been around but the game as a whole has gotten a lot better since it first came out.

    2) I've done programming before and I think the bugs aren't really the game developers fault. I blame it on management giving them deadlines and prioritizing new content over fixes. So when people complain to the dev's about how they want things, they probably don't have much say in the matter. I could be wrong but that's probably how it works.

Im surprised to learn that cryptic/PWE is a Chinese company considering how culturally iconic star trek is in the united states. I would have thought some american company would buy the license to the mmo.

BETA lifer pre-order. I can actually say I've seen it all when it comes to this game.

    2) I've done programming before and I think the bugs aren't really the game developers fault. I blame it on management giving them deadlines and prioritizing new content over fixes. So when people complain to the dev's about how they want things, they probably don't have much say in the matter. I could be wrong but that's probably how it works.
My issue isn't that they aren't doing it the way I want it. I feel like the massive number of old ignored bugs take away from the experience. We've been reporting them since day one and the majority are still there. I wonder why the year-long drought wasn't used to fix existing problems with the game. There were plenty around before PWE took over. And it isn't like they didn't have enough time to figure out what to do about them. Deadlines might be a part of it but the fact that bug fixing appears to not even be included in the timeframes given disturbs me.

OP, I disagree with your statement, and suggesting that things will get better if we just keep our mouths close is...ignorant.
Unless you can point to any disagreement between 2 groups of people that has be resolved by not talking about it. You'll get silence which may indeed resemble peace, but it's not!
I'm not implying this is a war because it's not. But to suggest to dedicated, loyal and emotionally involved people that if they just shut their mouths and play everything will be peachy again is just wrong. Cryptic and all the Cryptic Defenders would like you to believe that you don't matter, you're just a number and there's another behind you, but there's no line...the game's not "FULL", so where is the person who is waiting to take my place? I keep looking behind me I don't see him/her.

Edit: Just look around at the locked the threads this morning, I'm sorry but I think discussing the issues is having exactly the intended affect and Cryptic/PWE doesn't like it...it hurts.

Its the attitude towards its patrons greed is universal just ask any ferengi however if you look at the way most chinese companies treat their patrons its with disdaine and disregard for them.

If you have had any dealing with the chinese business model you will find they treat their patrons with complete contempt.

Meh. Opening our mouths and expressing our views to these devs is futile. Believing it to be worthwhile (when they've proven otherwise an uncountable number of times) is ignorant and self deceptive.
