Okay, I just cleaned my kitchen sink. I then filled it with a mixture of bleach and dish soap to clean the garbage disposer. Well, as luck would have it, I REEK OF BLEACH.
Weird part is, I work in a hospital and I regularly get undiluted bleach on my scrubs and I'm exposed to large amounts of the stuff. I've never come home smelling like it. I've changed clothes, showered, and took a walk outside.
I don't know what the deal is.

chlorine bleach stinks worse once it starts interacting with organic material...like what was in your disposal. or if you're using hot water to flush it down the steam will produce more as well.

Works great for cleaning, but not for smelling like human. Now I know. Thanx, you guys.

I've got to clean some stuff regularly with bleach. To kill the odor, after rinsing with water, I soak the items briefly in white vinegar, then rinse again with water. The bleach smell is gone and the vinegar is a minimal, clean smell.
