I saw a trusted and highly respected 6 year vet in CoH out of the blue kick a couple hundred of his guildmates out of the half dozen guilds he ran on multiple servers then disband each of the guilds so everything in them was deleted because he decided to "quit" the game.
Then he came back half a year later, convinced people to join his new guilds and... kicked them all out again.
Nothing players do surprises nor worries me anymore.
Yes, that's why you troll all the threads, your cool and gaming savvy just shines through.
Maybe you should start typing in caps about your huge online gaming experience.
Oh and I saw seventeen people burn their house down because they were angry at STO.

Hear-say on the internet must be true.
Being a vet of many mmos myself, I can personally say that I find playing PVP only MMOs with toxic playerbases and numerous trolls more enjoyable than this game right now.
Not to mention this patch brought out all the trolls, regular players, the Cryptic apologists and the Cryptic haters in a massive forum war to see who has the largest EPeen.
Meanwhile the game decays and Cryptic doesn't give a flying ****.

Oh you have a point, I was a paying customer here who barely visited forums until this crud hit.
Was too busy playing and actually paying.
I would just like to point out that there would be less flame wars, if at all as I don't count regular whaa threads as flamewars, if the game wasn't decaying.
Nah I leave the spreading of lies and hearsay to guys like you. Your emotional hissy-fits are far more entertaining than the posts of the fanbois.
And I'm flattered that you think I'm cool but that's just my honesty you like. However I must disagree about my gaming savvy. I'm at best an extremely casual gamer with only an average understanding of the games I play. There are plenty of features I have little experience with because I simply don't use them.
Yes, really, my hissy fits and that coming from a creature with 5k posts and foaming at mouth avatar.
So you are a White Knight who has at best limited knowledge but has loves to post it around?
You are one of more entertaining trolls around, I am really glad the feeling is mutual, save of course me not trolling with 100s of posts per day.
First you make a horribly buggy launch of new expansion. Then you penalize players for devs incompetence. Then you make it clear and sound that new expansion introduces even more ******n grinding than any expansion before it.
Well, I can't see where you went wrong Crytpic. Really.

I haven't vanished. I'm still playing STO. Although not as much as I did pre DR.
What I have done is stopped playing any of the Ques, at any level. Reason? The rewards are too low for the time and effort put into the missions. This is the only reason I choose not to play them.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
ok 2 days ago my fleet was running 50 active members at all times the best since season 9. Now almost everyone has left...To top it off almost all PVE queues are dead and hotspot area like ESD / Q'Nos are all but shells of what they were...
/sarcasm I wonder why?
They will just add more "Mall Walkers" to the effected areas.
I was actually looking forward to DR, but when I found out post double XP fortnight that they had reduced XP gain so much it was utterly tedious to do anything ingame now, I'm only logging in for my R&D levels. Other than that it's pretty much thinking what the hell can I do now. The Time/Reward ratio is so slow there's nothing that appeals in any way and DOFFing is just boring, like everything now.
Pity as I was really enjoying the TD runs as the ratio was about right there and mirrored that of other MMO's which aren't totally unbalanced like this is at the moment. Maybe I'll look again soon, but currently I can't think of anything ingame that I want to do, pity as I was really happy with the ships I got recently, I was looking foward to playing them more and learning them. But now I have to grind over 1M dil on each character to get them to Mk 14 Purple or Ultra Rare (not even Epic) to make them usable in any of the PvE queue's. PvP is dead due to lack of Ker'rat at 60 with the queue's being empty too.
As usual with economics, people who have a head start currency wise, can capitalise on it and extend that over others. Getting to that level is very difficult and now requires an approach to the game as though you are working on Wall Street on a daily basis. That's not fun. Running Tau Dewa Patrols with other people who were also happy and enjoying the challenges presented, was fun. About time you worked this out Cryptic.
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
Fanbois will argue that rain isn't wet if Cryptic was against it. Populations don't lie. Queues are down to all time lows ... instances in Delta Quadrant are very low even during peak ... and even hubs are relatively quite.
That said, I am sure they are making lots of money from the whales / dedicated players who apparently the only target audience.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Still, the 'canary in the mine' analogy is apt - when the trolls are leaving, you know the game's either headed for a quick death or performed a miracle, and it's usually the former. :P
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
over 1500 people at ESD this AM. Is that a shell? What is it usually - 100,000?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Interestingly, if you look at the stream stats, instead of the usual weekend peak, we now have a lovely nose dive for the first weekend ever by the looks of it. Is this the new record they're celebrating this weekend, and the success they're measuring by against lor?
The OP is correct. The PvE queues have been dead for about 2 weeks now. People are waiting at ESD hoping that a queue will get enough people to actually play. All the changes that have been made in one swoop is the cause of this. DR is actually quite good, and I've enjoyed the content, but all the rewards and skill point nerfing and means people don't feel like they can progress at a decent rate any more.
The changes made have been an unmitigated disaster, and the slow response to this is making the situation worse. If they responded more quickly and reverted most of the changes after the 1 week this would have not been an issue. The longer this goes on the more permanent damage to the player base this will cause.
I think the problem stems mainly from several changes:
(1) EC nerfs: This started a little while ago, but was tolerable. People weren't too happy with the tour the galaxy nerf, but this wasn't a big issue. However, nerfing the vending price of drops and then removing stf equipment rewards was obviously too much. It is much harder to earn EC in-game.
- This was very likely done to encourage people to buy keys to convert to EC, i.e. stimulate cash for zen purchases.
(2) Making the new advance queues much harder than the old elites. They require more time to do and are not pug friendly. Even with the slight hull reduction they take too long to do considering the nerfed dil rewards.
- this is a cynical attempt to make players work much harder for much less in return, while simultaneously reducing dil income by half for increased play time. Also to encourage players to upgrade their gear to MK XIV with dil. Thereby adding to the dil drain, with the intention of getting more players to buy dil for Zen. Again ultimately encouraging zen cash purchases.
(3) Skill point nerfs. So people can't level at a reason pace to play the next DR mission, earn specialization points, or level their starships.
- This frustration I believe is to keep players in game longer than is necessary so they dont' reach end game too quickly.
(4) The crafting system is a dil drain plain and simple. You can't even use your gear straight away without having to spend dil to shorten the process.
There are more tweaks I won't mention, but you get the gist. People play the game to relax and have a good time. I think this is driving away F2P players, the same players STO went F2P for to increase the population. No one wants to play an empty game.
I've noticed a significant drop in players as well in several maps. In fact many of the players in my fleet are not online after the patch that "fixed" the japori and tau dewa missions.
- the game is became really boring; a huge dil sink + all the "updates"
- queues are empty
i have 7 toons, i play only with 2 of them. i don't have the time and the desire to run after dil for all. also i can't do the new campaign for my 7 toons, this would be unhuman; boring and xp too difficult to earn
I hadn't left yet. As I still play. But I'm not on often due to things outside the game.
However if there is a drop in the player base. I can understand why.
"Exploit" fiasco - this was handled poorly and really burned players up. This isn't a good PR move at all.
EC - This hurt my character on making EC $. They nerfed the amount you got from vendors. So now I will never have to worry about upgrading from the standard EC cap. I was about to buy zen to fix that soon. Until they did this move. This I wasn't happy about.
R&D grind - This is slow but I'm kinda OK with it. But the some of the mats was hard to get and costly. However they did kinda fixed it with the upgrade system. So I can kinda work around it. But other players was still not too happy.
New T6 ship level - This also caused an uproar on how players spend $ on ships and gear. Myself including. To me they should just left it alone, or offered like upgraded ship parts. So you could upgrade hull, weapons, bridge officer slots, etc. So that way you could customize your ship better. Not just create a whole new level. Which more $ is spent. Granted they need $ for the game, but there was better ways to do it. Offer custom upgrades for a price. I'm sure that would work great. Cause I would go for it.
Final thoughts:
Granted everyone makes mistakes. The game has its share of it as well. Things could gone better or some worse. Still the game is nice to play and I enjoy it. Lets all cool off / calm down and hopefully we all learned something from this. I hate to see this game die as what then. I guess I won't be playing any more comp games. And I will fire up my old console games again. As this is the last comp game I really want to play. That includes others, since I can play solo with out anyone to deal with.
