Can the actual "/demorecord" file created in sto be shared with other players?
(In other words, if someone records a minute or two, emails me the file, can I play it on mine?)
I need some interior ESD footage, but my (weak) pc just trends to freeze up when I try.
Everywhere else is fine.
Thanks.

Should be. The only thing I can think of that would cause a disconnect would be if one person recorded under a different version of STO (say one not recently patched).
I don't have access to my game pc at the moment, so I don't recall exactly where the files are located. But the individual files should have everything another client needs to replay it.

First off, yes it can. The demo file is best read with Notepad and can be easily uploaded to a sharing site(email is tricky as even in notepad the file maybe to large, depending on the time length of the record). Corethl is correct, however, if done with different STO versions it will not run. The file is usually located in the Live(or Playtest if the demorecord was done on Tribble) folder --> C:/Program Files(86x)/Star Trek Online/Live/demos ... its usually there.
If you are unaware, there a great tool to use with demorecord and that's RachelGarret's Demorecord tool, which a simple Google search will give you the download link.

I'll have to give it a try.
