Need help with ground build

karcornerkarcorner Member Posts: 294 Arc User
I am getting just overwhelmed now on the ground against the Vaadwaur. I thought it would get easier as I leveled, but as a 58 now only one shot takes all my shields down and 2 or 3 then kill me. I am a tac and ave all sets, actually not maco, but Omega and all others. the only skill that looks like it might help is the PS generator, which I have only 3 of 9 selected. IS this pretty much how the game is going now? It seems that unless you buy stuff you die allot.

Thanks

Tacs have it especially rough with their limited self-heals. I suggest an aggressive(as in pin them down before they can spread apart and flank) use of the Suppressing Fire + Photon Grenade combo.

Auto- and Split-Beam rifles are a good choice for their range; minigun works too, but it can be a bit more troublesome to activate abilities with. Alternatively, just go with the full Dyson set - good regen shield, nice defensive armor ability, good opening AoE burst on the rifle.

Position and movement denial are big part of fighting the Vaadwaur on the ground. Suppressing Fire, Chroniton Mine Barrier, Electro-Gravitic Field, and Anesthizine Gas are all invaluable - use them yourself and via boffs.

On my Tac in the Voth/Kabali battle zones I like the bring an Eng and Sci Boff to keep me alive while I paw paw.

Eng: Weapons Malfunction1, Shield Recharge2, Shield Recharge3, Reroute Power to Shields3
    Sci: Hypospray - Dylovene1, Medical Tricorder2, Medical Tricorder3, Vascular Regenerator3

There are probably better configuration but this works very well for me.

The Vaadwaur seem to be able to easily strip shields with their opening attacks. Having fought them so far, here are my recommendations:

The Omega set seems to fare best against them. After your shields go down (they always will), Dodge can keep you up longer. But to benefit from that dodge, you need to crouch. It will give you 50% extra dodge on top of about ~40% you get from the Omega set, so the enemies will take double time to wear down your armor.

Use a Exploit weapon as your secondary. When your Omega Autocarbine secondary shot exposes them, switch weapons and hit your Exploit secondary. Also, obviously, use your Tac buffs where appropriate.

Bringing two Science healers as Boffs makes your captain very resilient, and, considering the enemy potential, not an overkill at all. Since you're being defeated, it's only fair that you invest in damage mitigation. Engineers won't protect you as much as Science boffs.

    Hope it helps.

Three points in PS Generator is more than enough to survive in ground combat. I'd suggest getting a kit frame from the fleet spire and slotting Motivation, Overwatch, Rally Cry, Motion Accelerator, and Lunge. Such a setup provides you with a large amount of self healing/tanking as well as team wide buffs.

Another good idea would be to get a gambling device from the exchange because it provides a buff to your dodge chance (dodged attacks are cut in half before they hit you). Secondly, a stack of Large Hypos with a Hypo cooldown reduction Biochemist duty officer would be ideal. The Omega set is good for tactical; use a Romulan Plasma Split Beam Rifle to quickly take down Vaadwaur.

For your bridge officers give your engineer the full MACO set along with Mine Barrier I, Shield Recharge II, Reroute Power to Shields II, and Equipment Diagnostics II. Give your Science officer MACO Armor + Shields with the Syncronic Proton Distortion Assault Rifle (Ghostbuster gun) along with Hypospray Dylovene I, Medical Tricorder II, Vascular Regenerator II, and Nanite Health Monitor I. You should notice a significant increase in your ability to survive with this setup.

I run a Trill Sci and my Jem'Hadar for my Away Team. My J'H is in the Dyson 3 piece and my Medic is in Adapted MACO. I use the Omega set. I haven't had an issue on ground. My J'H is set up to tank and he's an absolute beast when eating Ketracel White like candy. Got him outfitted with Draw Fire 1, Battle Strategies, Photon Grenade 3 and Target Optics 3. My medic is has Tricorder 2 and 3 Nanite 1 and Tachyon Harmonic 1. I use the Voth Shocktrooper Cannon UR with a Root Proc. I also keep them stacked with Shield heals and health packs. Don't forget a Good Tribble too. The Triolic Tribble has a nice DR mod (3.3 I think).
